Lost Question (Still on Hiatus)

I am still on Hiatus, now more than ever because I'm swamped, but I have a question.

If last night on Lost, the whole show really was a dream and it was all part of Hurley's imagination and he just woke up and the show ended, no warning, no nothing would you have been pist or would it have been cool and crazy?

I just wanted to let my 5 readers know that I have been and am going on a bit of a blog hiatus. It's not that I am not watching TV, I am, I'm just not feeling overly inspired to write about it or even read about it on other blogs and web sites.

Maybe it's all the work that I have to do as I finish up my Master's or just nothing funny is coming to mind. Whatever the case, a definite break is in order.

I haven't thrown in the towel though. So check back and hopefully I'll be back writing soon.

Idol vs. Skaters

Despite the Olympics being a bore thus far I wanted to make sure to catch "New York Fave" Emily Hughes and thankfully since the Olympic coverage has been so bad they decided to wait until American Idol was over before most of the skaters I was interested in had their turns.

Therefore I sat back, enjoyed and fast forwarded through a new season of too long, too verbose, too young, too fluffed American Idol.

Overall analysis:

WOW, most of these girls are young!
WOW, most of these girls are not that good--although I remember saying that last year too and they warmed up for me.
WOW, why are most of the girls wearing Capri pants
WOW, we are still using that flame background that reminds me of a burger king commercial
WOW, people still choose bad songs
WOW, who is that sleezy blond haired/moustache guy in the "dog-pound?"

I think I should be an Idol Consultant. First of all pick songs people know. Secondly on your first night out go more with up beat songs, people get bored with the slow songs. I agree with the judges half of the battle is just personality and being memorable. Slow songs=zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Whose Getting Booted:

Stevie - You're positioning yourself too much as an opera singer, no one wants that. Oh and you're not good.
Heather - You are just bad

Most annoying person was Brenna. I think she is trying to be Mikalah or something from last season. She'll stick around, but get the boot shortly. She wasn't even good.

For most of these girls the judges basically said how they had no confidence in them, they expected horrible but were pleasantly surprised that they weren't as bad as they would have thought..HILARIOUS.

No one really blew me away. Katherine, Kinnik, Mandisa, will make it to the top six. The thing about Paris is that she is sort of a caricature. I don't think she was that good, but she came with personality, but that could get old. She'll probably get in. Reserving my opinion on the last two spots.

Last question/point: Why are those intereviews so damn long...and boring!

The Real Deal..

So let's just get the mocking, chuckling, gafawing and finger pointing out of the way. Last night I took my husband to see INXS. You know how addicted we became to the show, despite thinking maybe their music wasn't it was all it was cracked up to be in the 80's. Well I have to tell you, J.D. Fortune, he's IT.

He's good looking in a rock star way, has a great crowd prescence and can definately sing. But we'll get to all that.

The show was at NYC's Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center. For those that don't know that is where the NY Philharmonic plays. In order to keep their reputation in tact the usher's all still wore tuxedo's and handed out playbill's. They served wine and fancy drinks in the lobby's and the seats were all nice and cushioned. There were some audience members so out of place that I thought maybe they thought INXS was just a name for a new philharmonic program.

The show opened with Marty Casey (and the lovehammers). They were pretty good. Although that dude is a bit of a freak and probably wakes up every morning thanking INXS. I did get the feeling they would have rather been playing in a bar than Lincoln Center though where people are standing up front, drunk, yelling and carrying on rather than sitting in the front row perusing their wall street journals. (Okay that didn't really happen, but it sounded good.)

INXS came out about an hour and 15 minutes later and they really rocked. I was concerned I was only going ot know the songs from the show, but it terms out my memory kicked it into high gear and I found myself dancing and singing along to all the old favorites whose names I don't know just the tunes. J.D. Fortune came out in all black with a white jacket looking all the rock star he wanted to be. Lots of screaming teenage girls followed by 60 year old women.

So I'm not saying go out and buy their new album, but know that this wasn't just another reality tv show leading to 15 minutes of fame. Seems like they might be around for a while until J.D. goes out on his own, becomes an alchie, drug addicted and incomprehensible and someone makes a movie out of his story with his kids crying in the corner as his wife drags them away to better life.

Tonight I'll have to catch up on the Bachelor...

State of the...zzzzzzz

Once again we get to see the State of Union. Which when it comes down to it is really a pep rally. Bush, with his approval ratings so low needed some clapping and rooting to make him feel better. Unfortunately, now I feel worse.

My list of thoughts/observations/mockery of the President:

The state of the union...not strong
Why do the judges need to wear their robes? It's not necessary.
Did someone have to prep Alito since it was his first day, dude you're not allowed to clap.
With everyone shooting the shit at the beginning, they should have donuts and coffee.
I love Tim Russert but, I would have like to have Jon Stewart do the commentary...
Or at least the Democratic response b/c this guy's a bore.
Too bad Cindy Sheehan got arrested, that would have made good viewing
Nice to see Cheney out of the bunker
Bush forgot Alito was confirmed, had to go back up the aisle to congratulate him
Only took four minutes to mention 9/11
9/11=2 mentions, purple thumb=1
When Bush spoke to the Iraqi's or Iranians..whoever does he know they are sleeping?
I didn't realize our road to victory was clear?

Who Knew...

Last night I was just clicking around and what did I find...the SAG Awards. Now here is a show I have never watched. Not sure why. I have to say, whereas not so eventful, quite enjoyable. Once again, like the Golden Globes, the actors are all put at oddly arranged tables with lots of food and wine. As a viewer I'm hoping for lots of drunken displays of something. Unfortunately, I didn't really get that but it was fun anyway.

Speeches were short and good, most people looked great, shout out Felicity Huffman and Reese Witherspoon and the only real disappointment was that Michelle Williams was overlooked again for Rachel Weisz and that the cast of Desperate Housewives won an award. I think there should be a ban on who you thank in these awards because otherwise all the speeches sound the same. Like there should be a caveat that if a person wins all people involved, cast, production, writers are thanked and let them say something else. I didn't know that Shirley Temple was still alive and for the record Dakota Fanning shouldn't be introducing anyone when she has to talk about the Depression. Speaking of depression the cast of Everybody Loves Raymond could not have looked more bored or uninterested in the evening's events.

All in all, an entertaining show. Mostly because it is done in two hours just in time for Grey's Anatomy...

what a great episode. I loved learning more about Izzy and also that even though he's a slime that Alex was getting all this attention. I thought the "anti-Bailey" was awesome and I can see why Sandra Oh keeps winning awards. Although I wonder if the rest of the cast will get jealous. As always, George is great, funny, cute and awkward. Which was sumarized best with the final line of the episode, "anyone want to have sex."

really looking forward to next weeks episode because in all my 10,000 years of ER there has never been a CODE BLACK.

So many things to say about last night's Lost.

Funniest Moments:

Sawyer calling Locke, "Mr. Clean."
End of the episode Locke says to Sawyer, "see ya James."
Hurley not only being interested in Lily, but basically saying that if he ever had a chance with a girl it would be on a "deserted island."

Scariest Moment:

Zeke/Captain Ahab/Fuzzy/The Other - All in the dark, he scared me.

Comments:

1. If I were Jack, before I let the situation get all contentious I would have asked the leader dude a lot more questions.

2. When "Zeke"/Captain Ahab or as I like to call him fuzzy was all this is our island we let you live on it, I would have said, dude it's all yours just tell us how to get off.

3. Nice to know the story about Jack and the divorce. You knew that dude was going to die.

4. I don't think there was anyone behind all those other lanterns.

5. Don't think the army is such a good idea. Especially if they have "moles" than they are going to know..all badness.

6. Prediction - Season Ends at the beginning of some big battle or just as someone gets seriously hurt.

By the way, I don't like to be told what to do either!

Side Notes:

Even though I like Scrubs, I think Zach Braff is starting to becoming annoying. Something with his voice.

Crazy ridiculous that Ruthie got sent home and Beth is the new captain of the Veterans on The Gauntlett II. I loved how Montana sucked up to her at the end. I consistently think they do this voting in this poorly. They should just have a standard and stick to that standard.

Let the Award Shows Begin!

Even thought it wasn't the first award show of the season, the Golden Globes kicked us off last night giving us insights into Oscar Night on March 5th. Despite all the awards shows between now and then this is the only one that matters.

Pre-Game

Was made up of E! with it's new lineup, a little of Joan and Melissa which is always a car wreck, followed by Nancy O'Dell and Dean Caine on NBC. I have to say, Izaac Mizrahi on E! is going to become the new Joan Rivers. His questions made stars cringe. It got to a point where he went on too long, people didn't want to talk to him and he was entirely inappropriate and irritating. Only Anne Hathaway in her interview rivaled in annoyingness. Not only did he look down Teri Hatcher's dress, but he made so many gay references to Ryan Seacrest (aka THE BOSS) that I was almost surprised they didn't cut him while the show was going on. Ryan Seacrest who usually gets on my nerves did a pretty good job with his co-host from the View. Where has she been.

Didn't watch enough of Joan and Melissa to give an analysis. It was too distracting to have my television lineup scrolling across the bottom. As of NBC my favorite part was the shocked face of Nancy O'Dell as she asked Chris Rock ridiculous questions and then he rocked the "N-word" to make her step back in shock.

My Own Awards

Most Overlooked Actors - Michelle Williams, Jeremy Piven

Best Presenter - Chris Rock

Actor Most Likely on Coke - Guy who won for playing Elvis (who's in Match Point now)

Most Disappointing Win - DH for comedy series. This show is not funny, it's no longer good.

Best Speeches - Steve Carrell (although I didn't want to see him win), George C., Felicity H., Hugh L.

Best Dressed - This is a hard one. I liked Marcia Cross, and Sandra Oh. On a funny note I thought when Sandra Oh! was being interviewed before the show began that her sister was actually her girlfriend and they were having a baby together. I was like, hmm I didn't know that I thought she just got divorced.

Most Deserving Awards - Philip Seymour Hoffman, Felicity Huffman

Most Pumped Up - Ryan Phillipe. I never saw anyone as excited as him.

Most Depressed Award - Hey Joaquin, YOU WON!

The Girl Most Likely to Be Your Friend - Reese Witherspoon

Most Likely to be the Next Roberto Benini - Ang Lee

James Frey Award - Geena Davis, although she owned up to her lie. And it was funny.

Overall, a good show.It's so much better than the Oscars, no host, no bs awards and it moves quickly. Speeches are funny, mood is good, I think it's all the drinking. I was also sad that My name is Earl, or Scrubs or Entourage didn't get recognized. And I know Hugh Laurie is supposed to be good, but give it to someone else.

My final question, why is it that Heath Ledger is receiving all this acclaim and nominations but we see nothing of Jake G. Why was he not even there?

If you are looking for some great insight or interesting commentary on tonight's two hour premiere of 24... I DON'T WATCH IT!! STOP HARASSING ME!! I have heard all the hype, I know it's a "great"show, I know you CAN'T BELIEVE it's not on my TV schedule. What kind of tv blogger/watcher am I? What's wrong with me!! I will not apologize! I just don't watch it. It conflicted with other shows, I chose not to watch it, It's five years in, I'm over it! And NO, I'm not going to rent the DVDs. If this makes me a bad TV obsessive viewer than so be it. And don't try throwing out that you can't believe I still watch ER. What can I tell you, it's getting good again AND I've been involved since the beginning. Oh and one more thing, you don't watch all the shows I tell you to watch, so we're even!

Now that I got that off my chest....

The Shows that I do Watch

Desperate Housewives. I have to say, tonight's episode for me, was the best episode of the season. Even though I'm sick of the Mary Alice storyline I'm intrigued that Mrs. Huber's sister is back and I enjoyed almost all the storylines. I have to say I even laughed out loud a few times. As always I enjoyed Lynette/Tom dynamic as I feel they are the most real-to-life. I enjoyed the "not so rational" reaction to the back-up plan, and it was "nice" to see Tom have an aspect to his character that will make him 3-dimensional and bring in real emotion.

Speaking of Felicy Huffman. I saw Transamerica this past week and I have to say it was excellent. She did a wonderful job as did the boy who played her son. It was such an interesting movie and so well executed. I truly hope she wins an award. Grade A. Anyway....

Once again, it is clear where we are headed with Bree and her alcoholism. And maybe, we're going to get rid of the Applewhites soon, because as I said before, who cares. The one storyline that I dont care about at all..Susan. I'm over her and as far as I'm concerned they can get rid of her from the show all together.

New Beginnings...

All I have to say is how happy that I am that Grey's Anatomy is back. There isn't one thing really that jumps out at me and it's not that I thought the episode was so incredible or funny, or great. I just like the show and it's been like four weeks since it's been on so I was just happy to see some "old friends."

Looking forward to a good Golden Globes tomorrow not. Look out for lots of commentary. I'll be Tivoing The Bachelor and Gauntlett II for later viewing.

Just Say No....Charlie!

So it seems that Charlie has been going back and forth to the plane to pick up more and more drug statues on Lost. He played it off well, with I don't know where the plane is. This is only badness. I do feel like Claire was a bit harsh on him and could have been a little more supportive, but I guess that doesn't make good drama. And who wants a drug addict near your child?!

And then Eko, yikers. He's no priest. Although he def. transformed to one. To his brother's point signing the paper does not make one a priest. Although the 40 days of silence, the repentence all that, I guess that makes you a priest. And everyone is going to think he is . Why did it not seem weird to Charlie that he knew the people in the plane? And why didn't it seem odd to Eko? It was nice to see his back story. Very interesting and scary. I liked the Eko focused episode.

The black monster/smoke....here's the thing. Could be interesting or could be bad and too ridiculous. I will withhold judgement at this point.

So I was watching the Gauntlett II last night (oh Alton, so cute, but that vein...it's gonna burst!) and then switched over to The Bachelor: Paris at 10:30 to see what it was all about. Now keep in mind, never was a Bachelor follower, but holy yikers on the oncologist. For those that didn't see. She didn't get a coveted rose and basically flipped out and not only accosted the bachelor, but THE CAMERA guy as well. It seems that all she was intereste in was REPRODUCTION. Who uses that word except my 6th grade health teacher Mrs. Podebecki? I guess she had made references to her eggs drying up. She wanted to know why she wasn't chosen. She believed that her main qualification for being chosen was that she too was a physician. When she got all in the Bachelor's face I wanted him to be like this is why you weren't chosen, this right here you stupid stupid girl. Even the cameraman was like, uh, I don't know lady, um I think you need to catch a plane back to the states you freaker who will never ever ever get a date again. I mean this woman is on national television yelling how she's tried everything from internet dating, to speed dating well I can tell ya, this may be the end of the road for you sister.

The thing that annoys me about this show, albeit entertaining. Is that the women are so incredibly desperate and feed into the negative stereotypes that women have. They are literally throwing themselves at this guy. Again entertaining so I try to put it out of my head. Now since I didn't watch it from the beginning I don't know all the backstories and who's who, but I think I may get invested. Seems like funny watching.

Back to the Gauntlett II. Now nothing so wonderful happened except the more and more sexual nature of each task. But a shout out to Alton. I mean what a guy to choose a Gauntlett that Adam has a chance at. And I have to admit I liked Adam better here than I ever had before. Too bad he had to leave so soon.

Sara's (Emily's) Reason's Why Not:

The show is not that funny
Despite liking Heather Graham in Scrubs her character is a little annoying here.
Not much of a supporting cast.

HOWEVER - it was only the pilot and I always give pilots another chance. AND, nothing is really on during that timeslot so we'll see.

More Movies....

Good Night and Good Luck - This was a really good movie. All-star cast. Great writing, good issues and awesome how you can close your eyes and it's as if it is happening today. Another good thing, only like an hour and 15 minutes or something. Grade: A/A-

Unlike some other movies...

King Kong - Yes this was silly silly silly. But I have to admit I enjoyed it. I got into the story and the special effects were truly incredible. A little too Jurassic Park, but not too much that I was annoyed. I would give this movie an "A", but I can't due to the length. Just way too long. You know a movie is long when there is no possible way you could sneak into another one. I think I also enjoyed it because I had never seen any of the other versions before. Grade B+

Desperate---For Season One!

So after a long break we are back to new episodes of our "favorite shows." Now I have to admit this episode of Desperate Housewives wasn't the worst of them. In fact I sort of liked the banter between Lynette and Gabby over the kiss as well as when Carlos went over to Lynette's house. There was a lot more of a dynamic between the ladies, which I think is what the show needs. However all of this was chuckle, not hilarious and definitely not that good.

The bads...AY with zach. Who cares who cares who cares. The Applewhites...who cares who cares who cares. I was moderately interested in who that guy was, but not so incredibly intrigued. And caleb with that icecream. I missed the last few minutes after Betty said she was worried. And finally, Susan. Get a different angle. Your voice, your mannerisms, and the whole running into the car, predictable. Maybe the show wasn't that good last year either and it was just new and now we are all being way to critical i'm not sure. Because I'm not sure exactly what this show needs. Although where it Brie's daughter, and btw what it thinks it needs is Brie becoming an alcoholic which they are setting her up for. Oh and it was nice to see Carl do something nice.

No New Episode -

So all we got from Grey's Anatomy was a episode recap. I guess since the show is so good I'm willing to sacrifice a week so more people could get caught up. I watched some of it and had forgotten about some funny moments and then watched DH on TiVo. I can't wait until next week.

It's a new year, and lots of new shows to celebrate with. But first more vacation movie madness:

Munich: Brings up some interesting discussion, and I enjoyed the psychological turmoil of a "regular" guy turned assassin, but a little too long and the last shot of the movie was a bit gratuitous for my taste. Overall Grade - B

Memoirs of a Geisha: I enjoyed it. It has been a long time since I read the book so I wasn't concerned with how well they went together. Good story, fairly good momentum, definitely some gaps. A good renter. Overall Grade - B/B+

Syriana: Snoozefest. Overall Grade - C-/C

Up Next: King Kong, Good Night Good Luck, Match Point.

Scrubs is Back, Scrubs is Back! (One for each episode)

The episodes weren't outstanding, but I was glad the show is back and maybe I just need to get back into the groove. Not sure what was up with Turk's facial hair. Like is that supposed to be funny for the show or is that just a new look?!

My Name is Earl

I love it anytime they show the two kids, although this time I didn't need to hear them talk. It's better for those kids to be seen not heard. I loved the cameo by the dude from the episode where Earl taught English. Plus nothing beats Randy laying down playing dead in the ostrich pen. Slightly annoying that it was moved to Thursday's although I guess now that Reunion was cancelled it doesn't really matter.

Gauntlett II

Oh Beth, Beth Beth. Get a job, get off this show. You are getting too old and haggard for this show. You are pathetic, pathetic I say. I miss Johnny Mosely. Plus Mark maybe you should go with Beth. Where's Veronica hating Katie when you need it?!

New Show Alert!

Four Kings, Thursday at 8:30 on NBC. I definately laughed out loud once, maybe twice. I won't say the show is good or bad. It needs a few episodes because it really could go either way. I'm holding out on analysis. One note, one of the guys looks like a younger Duncan's dad on Veronica Mars.

Two More Down...

Capote - If you have read In Cold Blood I say watch the movie. Phillip Seymour Hoffman does an EXCELLENT job portraying Truman Capote, but it takes place while he is writing the book and I think if you are not familiar with the book you may feel a little left out of the movie. It's a great portrayal of how selfish/self-centered Capote was and how he realizes how that selfishness was used to get what he wanted, but actually tormented him and in some ways destroyed him from writing again. Very interesting.

Family Stone - This is Stepmom meets Steel Magnolias which to me means a good movie for the holidays. It's not cinematic genius, but it's enjoyable, mostly lighthearted and a nice change of pace from everything else that is out there right now. My brother hated it as did the people behind us, but for a fun movie experience with snacks I say go. It does get a little slow, and if you're saving money for Munich and/or Match Point I say you can catch it on video and it won't be a huge loss.

Tomorrow will be filled with the Giants game and maybe Munich tomorrow night. Hopefully another two on xmas finished off with the perfect amount of chinese food. Hail to the jewish movie holiday weekend.

One more note. As for the NYC transit strike, I'm glad it's over, but I have to admit it was kinda nice to see two major thoroughfare's closed off with people riding their bikes, rollerblading, walking, etc. It felt like a nice little community until my friend's bike got stolen..fucking humanity. Fucking Roger Toussant...but I digress.

If you celebrate xmas=merry xmas. If you don't enjoy the weekend of chinese food, movies and 24 hours of a christmas story on TBS....favorite line...guys guys I'm stuck, don't leave me here, guys guys, c'mon guys!!!

Today I started the marathon off and saw Brokeback Mountain followed by Harry Potter. Both entertaining, both not worth the hype especially Brokeback. It sort of feel about Brokeback as I did about Cold Mountain...too long...too slow...nice story....catch it on HBO or whatever. Tomorrow thinking about Pride and Prejudice followed by the sneak into Syriana. Last week I saw Rent and Walk the Line. LOVED Rent. Always love the music and liked the show so to me this was great and it actually made the story better seeing it all playing out on the big screen. Walk the Line...acting good, story eh. Here's the deal with these musician films I'll sum it up. Man becomes famous almost by accident, gets married, goes on the road, does drugs, marriage goes bad, there's trouble, musician redeems himself all is good in the world. Felt like I'd seen the story before and it was also a little to slow. ALthough I did come home and download four new Johnny Cash songs onto the Ipod.

Feel free to throw out any recommendations...music/tv/film/books etc.

How I Met Your Mother

It's nice to have a new show to watch when everything else is repeats. This show is funny. I love that Barney had the super psyched mix and the mix theory. Everytime I heard Shot to the heart I laughed out loud. This episode wasn't as funny as episodes past but still very enjoyable.

THANK the lord that the Weavers didn't win. First of all, how many times can one family pray throughout the race AND thank the lord for the taxi driver Ted who didn't really know where he was going and in fact was praying himself. The Weavers were so incredibly annoying, and I'm not sure why this changed in family edition but why did Rolly do all the road blocks? Isn't there some rule that no one person can do more than however many. That kid did them all. And the fact that they were going to give up and not search for the clue in the stadium just proves they shouldn't have won. I mean you have a 1 in 3 chance to win a million dollars so what do you do...go to sleep. I wouldn't be surprised if some behind the scene camera man made them continue looking. Thank god they didn't win. And did you hear their b.s. when they came in third?! Of course they thanked the lord again and said it wasn't about the money it was about the lord...yeah that's what it was all about. Why were they so concerned about the other racers..THIS IS A RACE. Suck it up, you are not there to make friends. And clearly even if it came down to the wire they wouldn't have won the GEOGRAPHY puzzle. They didn't even know Pennsylvania was a state and they thought Lake Pontrachain was a great lake, I mean they were sunk on that task.

Speaking of the geography task for the first time in this whole race I was stressed out! I don't even know if I could have done that as quick (of course it was edited so it could have taken hours.)

Then when the Linz's crossed the finish line, I was super psyched. They were my team. I loved the whole brother taking care of sister dynamic. Plus the boys were so goofy and that one was downright ridiculous but they were all so cool and fun to watch. Did you see the little blond tike hug them at the end. It was so nice to see all those familiar faces well up at the end. Of course the funniest thing is that they are all in their race garb as if they have to maintain their roles. It's like when the President does his State of the Union and calls out people in the audience and they have to be dressed in their role. The americorps volunteers always get fucked. They have to be on national television getting recognized in their sweatsuits....anyway I digress.

A lot of the stops were lame as usual on this race, but my one question is when you have to run up the stairs or down the hill or whatever just send the fastest person and get that person to run back. Why tire everyone out. There must be some sort of rule or something, b/c I just don't understand it.

Well now we have to wait until February where we return to basics. At least we'll have Scrubs to fill in starting January 3rd....

FirstI would like to thank Breanna for her concern. Secondly I would like to apologize for my absense. For those of you who don't know I am going back to school to get my masters degree. The last few weeks since thanksgiving have been crazy as I had to get all my projects done for the end of the semester. Plus I went to Jamaica for thanksgiving which didn't help matters. But, don't worry my study breaks were made up of watching television so I'm all caught up, just didn't have time to write about it....so now let's get to it:

Sunday Night's:

Desperate Housewives - First of all thank god that George is dead. That could have been the worse plotline ever. Now let's just get rid of the kid in the basement and maybe we'll get back to normal. I don't care about that story, don't care that he killed someone, don't care that he likes ice cream. Maybe they'll start to get back to basics, although now that Zach is back maybe they'll just keep rehashing the same story over and over. Right now the show is getting a big fast C-/D+. I watch it hoping something will happen that will be interesting. For me I'm only midly interested in what Andrew is going to do, only because they have had that teaser out for a year!

Grey's Anatomy - LOVE this show. George couldn't be more awesome and the fact that the "nazi" is now preggers and bosses around her unborn child is too funny. From the leaches on the guy's face to the boy who didn't believe in Santa the cases are great and again you would think we would have covered everything with ER, but no, we haven't. I'm actually sad for Addison now that Derek told her he loved Meredith, now it's just sad. I want Alex to tell Izzi what he has been going through and maybe they'll start talking again, or maybe she and George will hook it up and that will be hilarious and awkward. I really hope Christina and Burke stay together and maybe we can see a little of Izzi's family which we haven't yet. It would also be funny to see Christina's mom with George's dad, but that just won't happen!

Curb Your Enthusiasm - I have to say this season, not that good. The season finale--zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. It was too long and not that funny. Very disappointing!

Monday Night's:

How I Met Your Mother - I missed the last episode before it went on hiatus which is slightly annoying. Hopefully I will catch it over the hiatus. I'm giving this show best new sitcom award for fall 2005 season.

Kitchen Confidential - It's getting cancelled, I'm slowly tearing myself away. See ya!

Real World/Road Rules; Gauntlett II - Who are all these people and where is my boyfriend Johnny Mosely. This new host is clearly reading off cue cards and he is awful, potentially one too many falls off the ol' BMX racer. It's always a little hard to follow at the beginning anyway, but thankfully Beth and Katie are on the show and the killer mormon. They will make up for the lack of Tonya, Veronica, Coral and of course The Miz.

Tuesday Night's:

My Name is Earl - Actually this might be the funniest new show on television. If you are not watching this it is awesome. When Crab Man and Joy were getting married and they did the montage of Earl and Crabman's relationship..hilarious.."hey crabman, hey earl." This is white trash at its best.

The Amazingly Boring Race - Still boring, but tomorrow night is the finale. Hoping for the Linz's to win, they probably won't. The producers will probably fix it again ala bring plane back to gate and allow the weavers to win to demonstrate how they overcame such odds. What odds though, people don't like them. This is a race why do you care what people think?! You are just annoying!

Boston Legal - This show is out of control. It's funny, but ridiculous. It's as if once again David E. Kelly has decided that he has won the requisite Emmy's and now nothing is sacred. His storyline's don't even make sense and they without a doubt cross the line of believable. Ally McBeal here we come.

Real World - All I have to say is if you didn't see the Reunion episode find it, TiVo it. It doesn't matter if you didn't watch all season it could be the funniest one ever. Literally I was multitasking and I stopped what I was doing. Never have I seen so much yelling on a reunion show, it was awesome.

Wednesday Night's:

Lost - I have to say I lost a little interest in the show for a while. I still loved it, but I thought it was getting a little boring as we got caught up with the tailies. I'd like to see more about Rose and her husband and of course about Libby since she is probably an Other. Hopefully one of these days the wheelchair mystery will be revealed. Now that both camps are together I think the show will get interesting again. Although I did hear the monster is coming back and I'm not a big fan! Unfortunately we won't see this show until mid-January.

Veronica Mars - Thank god wallace is back. I missed him, although is that girlfriend of his going to be back too. And the baby...yikers. So the question is for those of you who saw the alternate ending are we to assume that Meg just died from her wounds or that she was killed? If you didn't know she was going to die from that ending you knew she was going to die with the "if anything ever happens to me...speech." And what happened with her parents locking the kid up in the closet? Are we over that? So now there will be some sort of baby fight? Also what's going on with Keith and Wallace's mom are they definitely over, never to speak again? So clearly Duncan and Veronica will break up. Will we see Logan's father out of jail? I would like one or two mysteries solved soon as we learn about the bus crash. There is a little too much going on!

Alias - Now that's it moved to Wednesday's....still have no idea with Prophet Five is. I think I'm glad this is the last season. I mean I love it and all but the stories are getting repetitive. I hear we see all the old characters in the finale. That will be something to look forward too.

Thursday Night's:

The O.C. - The show is in a huge slump. Nothing is really going on except "who will get into Brown..." who cares! The Johnny/Ryan/Marissa triange a snoozer...I think we need to see Ryan's illegitimate baby show up about now. Or maybe what's his face from season one.."Welcome to the o.c. biatch." We need some action, some comedy enough of the melodrama that's isn't.

Reunion - CANCELLED!! Couldn't be more annoying. So do I keep watching it? Do I give it up now? What do I do? All I know that between this and North Shore I need to stay away from show's that Jenna's in. Im going to keep watching. I mean now that Craig is like the 100th person on television to really walk but be faking in a wheelchair I need to see how that happened.

Everwood - Also a great show, although I missed the last 10 minutes this week. I'm a little sad that Delia is getting all grown up though. I would like to see more Andy and Nina and I'm glad that Hannah didn't really leave. I was definiately dooped on that one. Do you think her and Bright had the sex in the shower? As a side note..freakin' earl. Last week he had some sort of monologue that summed up one of my papers exactly..see TV really does help us learn.

ER - For those of you who dont' watch..which is everyone..Abby's preggers, Abby's preggers...that's all!

So now we are in xmas hiatus and a new crop of shows are coming in January. Haven't read that much about them, but will definately be checking them out. At this rate shows that could be dropped - DH, O.C, BL, making room for more.

I have a cold so I'm off to snuggle under the blanket and of course watch more t.v.

Bizarro Lost

So last night's episode of Lost was "Bizarro Lost." That is the story of the other survivors. The clinical psychologist instead of the surgeon. Two small children that probably equal the age of Walt, and a female agressive leader instead of Jack. Oh of course on this side of the island they kill small wild chickens and the other boars.

Additionally, of course, what took us one year to get through now takes us one episode.

The biggest disappointment for me, just to get it out of the way, was the last five minutes. THey extened the show and basically it was a recap. It wasn't so awesome to see those last five minutes from the "tailies" perspective. DIdn't really learn anything new. Except now I remembered who went missing right before the two "sides" met. I just didn't register it last week.

The first mystery of course is Bernard...how did he end up in that tree buckled next to that kid? I thought he was in the bathroom. Or was he on his way back and just took a seat when things got turbulent?

I'm trying to figure to figure out how many "tailiess" there were. It seemed the Others took nine which isn't a "number." How many were there to begin with? They need a flight manifesto or to make some sort of list.

It seems that unlike the front of the plane the "tailies" lost weight in their 48 days. I guess it's all that walking while Jack and crew is living large in caves, on the beach, eating boars, eating from the hatch, etc.

The one other thing that was interesting to me was the transformation of Anna Lucia. At the beginning she seemed so friendly then she went all bad ass. I'm interested in her back story. When she was asked if she had kids and she hesitated I think there is more there.

The other mysteries arising of course is a continuation of "good vs evil." The Others only take the good. Maybe that's why Charlie was going to get killed because he was "bad" with the drugs and all. I have forgotten how Claire got back. Why don't the others go after the people in the front other than Walt? Is it that there are too many? Is it that they are all bad? Does this further the purgatory theory in some way?

And the last question, why are all "the others" from Canada? (Nathan/Ethan).

White Trash

Nothing says white trash better than a wedding with twinkies and other assorted hostess items on a wedding cake tier. Although registering for tequila and light beer at the local liquor store may.

This was the case on last night's My Name is Earl. This show cracks me up. I thought the wedding was super funny. Especially the first one, where Joy was wearing white jeans and the table behind her was full of alcohol (that was registered for.) Of course you have to love the Crabman and his family. Especially his child with th crazy buckwheat hair. I also enjoyed the creative soda bottle centerpieces and no wedding is complete without the cardboard box dance floor which of course should be used for breakdancing.

The best lines of the night had to do with Demi and Bruce. Especially how they still sleep together from time to time.

Good show.

A Little Disappointed

No, I have not been run away by some of the negative comments on my blog. I just haven't had that much to say on the current television season. I haven't been that impressed or engaged for that matter. Shockingly enough I just don't have that much to say.

Desperate Housewives is almost to the point of awful. Although I still watch it just in case AND in the hopes that it will get better. Grey's Anatomy has turned into one of the best shows on television, however last night's episode didn't really do it for me. I had really high expectations b/c I knew the topic was going to be really interesting but it had just been "eh" compared to some of the previous ones. You already know my feelings on The Amazingly Boring Race, and Lost is leaving me with too many questions and until Shannon got shot I was sitting on my couch yawning. Although I am really looking forward to this week's episode.

Now I've seen the comments telling me that I'm a cry baby or whatever, but I simply expect more out of my television viewing especially when my shows provide it from time to time. All I'm asking for is a little consistency. Shows like Everwood and ironically enough Reunion are delivering big time. (as is Grey's they just had a less than awesome week, but still good.) I still enjoy Veronica Mars but they are falling into the Lost trap of offering up too many mysteries with not enough getting solved. With so much going on in viewer's lives we need some answers to keep us going and keep us interested. And even Boston Legal has fallen into the trap of all of David E. Kelley's shows where they get too political and too ridiculous AND too repetitive. Lastly, there's The O.C. and Alias. Two great shows in their heyday, but both should be nearing the end like E.R.

Maybe I just need some more good sitcoms. I do enjoy How I Met Your Mother and My Name is Earl, but I did realize that if they got cancelled I wouldn't miss them at all.

Perhaps it's time to shake it up a bit. Add shows that are off the major networks. Go to the shows that are on the cutting edge?! I feel like I have hit the hallmark birthday card point. I keep going to the store to buy birthday cards, but I feel like I've seen them all before.

Mockery

If you get all your money taken away=challenge. All your money is taken away, but all you need is ONE taxi ride and everything else is taken care of=Amazing Race: Family Edition. I mean seriously THAT was the big challenge it's ridiculous. And by the way the more that I think about it the more I would not put all my clothes on if I think I'm goign to get eliminated. I mean who really wants to carry everything it's such an advantage to have nothing.

Speaking of advantage why did ALL the people on every team run to the cluebox on the Volcano. Just one person go, come back, much faster. Do people not watch this show? It's perplexing..seriously.

And again do people think things are open at 2am. They just aren't. Got to a hotel, sleep in catch up later...well rested.

Also do people not get the yield? If you are going ot use it, use it if you are feeling threatened by a team...THIS IS A COMPETITION, not just because you don't like someone.

Once again, not challenging. Even the red bean thing while at first seemed daunting wasn't. The problem with the one family who I liked was that she just spread everything all over the place, she really needed to get down and dirty. The kids actually would have been better I think. They are all about the crawling on the hands and knees. And the run across the bridge thing I mean the hardest part was not falling Romancing the Stone style on some of that mud. I do have to admit that banana thing looked hard and I was cringing at the thought that the little kids were going to choose that one. That would have been just awful!

Which brings me to the biggest mockery of all:

SPOILER ALERT

I cried..not actual tears down the face but welling up when the family with kids got voted off. I really liked them and the comments the little girl had were always priceless. Even the boy was cute. The parents were also always so supportive and there was never any yelling. The kid really tried to be a man by not crying but clarissa just couldn't hold it in....I guess now you have to root for the Bickerson's, I mean who else is there?

Best Episode Yet

Grey's Anatomy could be the best show on television. How is it that ER has been on TV for 100 years and they consistently repeat storylines (yet I still watch) and this show comes up with something fresh that I have never seen before?!

Not only was this a heart wrenching episode but the acting was fantastic. I found myself almost crying during the surgery to remove the pole stuck between two people. It was nice to see Abby from Dawson's Creek get a great role as a woman stuck to a man with a pole through her and keep her good humor and chirpiness.

In addition to the intensity of the episode I think this is one of the only shows that could have make it funny and not gross/inappropriate etc of a character running around to find someone's missing clean cut leg only to continually bring back the wrong one.

It seems that Alex will be getting his Mojo back in a way that was very sleazy. I guess that is his Mojo. I like that this show is not predictable or over the top. I like that "abby" died and they couldn't save both patients, I like that the pregnant woman were just best friends and not lovers and that their children were siblings and I like that Dr. McDreamy didn't pick Meredith (although that was predictable.)

Of course one of the best moments was Christina yelling at "her boyfriend" to help her find the leg b/c that is what boyfriends do.

Great episode, Great show and I didn't even miss Desperate Housewives.

It's Not Just the Places

It's the people too on Amazing Race. I have to admit when the "Bickersons" mom said, "finally out of the country," she couldn't have said it better. However the people still don't bring a lot to the table.

This show should be called hurry up and wait. Now I know it's a race and you feel the need to rush, but you have to realize that at 1:30 in the morning no plane is going to Panama and nothing in Panama is going to be open.

I have to admit I got caught up in the mom/son melodrama. First of all it was nice to see the dad finally speak and he seemed so nice. Heartbreaking to see the mom just want a little love from the son and I have to admit a little choked up when they jumped, and he kissed her. Then on the mat he was happy he jumped with the mom. Hopefully now they will get along a little better, but I doubt it. (Maybe I'm rooting for them a little.)

The people with the "best" strategy, the family with kids. All this is about at this point is just not being last. They don't always have to be first and it is such a good way to set the kids up because then they are not being disappointed constantly. The kids are funny too. ALthough I have to admit have they learned nothing from Rob and Amber. If you get to the FF and someone else is there just leave. If they see you they are going to do it no matter what. By you being there you are saying you have to do it or you'll lose. The second they got there they should have left and gone to do the other things.

Most Ridiculous Moment of the Night - The fielding on the baseball field. Did you see that guy not even put his mitt on the ground to get the ball from the weaver kid. It was a mockery and clear he was flubbing it.

Overall, best episode this season...although not saying much!

Only Happens to You

Julie summed it up best on Desperate Housewives, "this kind of stuff only happens to you (Susan)." This is true. She is always the victim, always has the slapstick (wrestling with the agent), always has the same storyline. At first I was happy because finally we were going to see a more dimensional side of Susan. She is an author/illustrator, she does work and we NEVER go into that world. Finally a glimpse passed the men obsession, jealous of edie, falling into the bushes Susan. But even that ended up a dissapointing, Susan is always a victim storyline. For god sakes, give her something more.

By far the best actress/performance this season is Bree. I thought she was going to go all Melrose (Kimberly) on us with her neck throbbing at the cemetary and mabye take off her hair again...I'm still recovering.

Second time we saw the group of them together this season. Need more of that less of five mini-shows.

One of my favorite parts in this episode and there may have only been two was the prison group therapy scene. Not so much Gabrielle and Carlos, but the other group members. Although I did like Gabrielle's line about hitting the abused woman.

The Lynette storyline was okay and usually I like her the best. Just too unrealistic in that who starts bringing her boss presents to try and get her to relax? Although I did like the fact that her boss bribed her to go to the bar.

Finally the mystery in the basement. I'm somewhat intrigued, although not really, but atleast we got a few more answers.

Overall this episode was FINE. Mostly boring. A few chuckels, sick of the Zach storyline, the poisening storyline and the pharmacist storyline. Looks like I'll be bored for a while. Maybe I need more sitcoms.

Seriously

Definitely one of the top shows on television. Grey's Anatomy. First of all I love that Dr. Bailey is married and has been for 10 years. I liked that she got dressed up, I liked that she looked so happy and I liked that she has a life outside of the hospital.

I was hoping that Meredith found out about her mother and the chief, but that is probably in due time. She has too much going on in her life now.

Yeah for George, love him. Maybe now with his new found confidence he'll bust his move.

Never did find out what Alex's problem was, but it is clear that he is a choker. Maybe he just didn't know what to do given the whole failing of that exam. Despite his bravado he clearly has confidence issues.

I do think that Dr. McDreamy made a good point about his marriage and taking time to think about it. But now Meredith put it all out there, that's going to be an awkward working relationship. I see lots of tequila in Meredith's future.

As for the cases. Loved the porn guy, interested in the Hmong shamen, but not sure if there should be fire in the hospital room and once again George and Alex in the elevator was great.

Seriously...love this show!

Jin Speaks English...

Overall I thought Wed. episode was good. I didn't feel like I was in a holding pattern because the back of the planers (backers) had to find the front of the planers (fronters) and so something was happening. Plus Michael is trying to find Walt and we did see the legs of (dirty) of "The Others.) So even though nothing was solved, (as usual) it seems that things are getting set up FOR THREE WEEKS FROM NOW.

I mean c'mon. This isn't Fox. There is no World Series. This is just annoying. I guess I'll watch VM in the living room rather than the bedroom.

(SIDE NOTE: The kid from Everybody Hates Chris is on Ellen right now. I wish I watched that show, just too many conflicts. Hopefully they'll show it over the summer or move it also to another week.)

Anyway, back to Lost. I think this was the first time Jack mentioned to anyone on the Island that he was married. Plus it is still not clear if he is divorced or she died. Keeping in the sock drawer makes me believe that their divorced. Like if she died maybe he would still be wearing it.

My favorite part of the entire episode was the conversation between Sun and Hurley. Best lines:

Lastly, has everyone noticed that Jin STILL wears that handcuff? I never noticed it before wed. episode. Plus Anna-Lucia, way to bossy for me. She treats these people like hostages.

Now I have three weeks to figure out all the mysteries and try and convince my husband not to give up the show in pure nothing is being answered frustration.

My Security Questions

Yikers with Alias. I really need to rethink my security questions. Usually I go with "the name of my high school," or if I am feeling really sneaky "what is my favorite color. Did you check out those questions that were asked to access the bank account. I mean what was that!

This to me, was the best episode of the season action wise. I felt that I knew what was going on, it was back to old school and there were a few good Marshall interactions, awkwardness.

Not sure what that guy said to Sloane to get him out or what was offered. I rewound my TiVo a few times, but I couldn't make sense of it. I also don't understand when you don't get legal counseling. That's America for you.

Aack with the car drop. You know she should go see that CIA doctor, because that can't be good for the baby.

I got to get myself one of those pairs of dice, baby needs a new pair of shoes.

Wallace has a Brother?

I know the big news on Veronica Mars is that that dude is Wallace's father, but you had to see that coming. I didn't realize that Wallace had a brother. Not that it makes a difference, just who knew!

So it seems that VM is going a little bit Alias with the mother/girlfriend having a different identity. This will definitely blow up and potentially hurt Keith's run for Sheriff and most likely ruin the relationship with between Wallace and the new girl. Who I wonder if she is connected to all this in some way or is simply the new girlfriend.

I feel like there are a lot of mysteries going on this year, much more than last year. Now we have Duncan hanging out at the hospital everyday. This relationship is just not going to last. Once Logan gets over himself and his anger I'm sure we'll be seeing him and VM back together.

VM and Duncan also can't stay together because this whole computer secret thing is going to blow up. Also I feel like the Meg sister thing is bizzare as well and I feel like there is a set-up. By the way how did Meg's parents know about Veronica and the bus. Why put blame on her. That's weird to me.

The mystery of who set up Logan and killed Weavil's friend is that just done with or is it tied into the whole bus thing. I figured it's all tied in, but it just hasn't been mentioned in a while.

So next year does Veronica go to Stanford or some made up California college near home so she can continue to be a detective?

Where's Lost?

My husband went off last night to watch baseball and hockey so I promised I would wait until we watched "The 10,000 dollar question(s)." See what a good wife I am! Therefore I caught up with My Name is Earl and all I have to say is...."I don't care if she speaks Chinese, Vietnamese or Chucky Cheese...."

This show is pretty funny and anytime Giovanni Ribisi plays a part I don't feel like he is a celebrity guest star just a funny addition.

The Amazingly Boring Race...

How do you make a great reality program boring...add families who are not very interesting. That's the story on The Amazing Race. Nothing interesting is happening with the exception of learning that our country is EXTREMLY white trash. I mean...the BIGGEST office chair. This is a tourist attraction. I mean who built that, who cares!

I don't understand why the families have SO much stuff. It just seems like it will bog them down, and I'm still not clear on the rules of when you have to drag stuff with you and when you can leave it in the car.

Despite the boringness of the episode there is nothing like seeing a 9 year old and 12 year old with a double blade saw and a face mask trying to saw. I'm not sure why the parents didn't think they could do it at the beginning.

Spoiler Alert

I was happy though that the tykes didn't get the boot. I wasn't in the mood to see them cry and was much happier to see the chauvenist dad get kicked off. Serves him right for never listeing. It is true that 1 minutes makes all the difference.

Hopefully next week will get interesting. They are finally leaving the country. I've had it with this one. I need some lost in translation, unfriendly tourists and waiting in train stations for the one overcrowded train until 3am. Hopefully all this will happen.

Changing it's Image

With the exception of The Amazing Race, and Survivor I always thought that CBS was meant for the eldery. Between Murder She Wrote and Judging Amy I just didn't see the network reaching out to me. Now maybe it's because I have gotten older (I did just turn THIRTY) or their programming is just better.

After visiting LA this past summer and checking out a taping of King of Queens. I added it to my TiVo and have started watching it on Monday nights. (There is not much else on at this hour.) I have to say it is pretty funny. Now last night's episode wasn't awesome but I've definitely seen a few good ones. I can see this show going the way of Raymond and Doug/Carrie just argue all the time, but I really like Jerry Stiller and the supporting cast gets some good lines. Last night the dog walker left the show, but seeing the ratings of her new show it seems she'll be back pretty soon.

The other Monday night show How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) also a good Monday night watch. I am really starting to get into all the characters and enjoy the tempo of the show. Last night's episode when Barney was grinding his cousin was classic only because it wasn't predictable. Additionally, the fact that the viewer had to read subtitles during the club scene was just plain funny. Not sure how this show sustains viewership after a year (we'll finally meet the mother, some dating stories, but that's that), but I'm definiately willing to find out. I really feel like the cast is gelling together and has good chemistry. Alison Hannigan is a little sex/bandcampy but it's all good. Nothing really beats sneaking out of your own boring party to go find your fiance and ultimately dance/drink and have a good time. Who hasn't felt that they needed to grow up a little only to realize it is more fun just doing what you want and having fun.

Now a lot of people say that Kitchen Confidential on Fox is better than HIMYM and all I have to say to them is TiVo. Watch one, tape one...DONE. Also in case you haven't noticed we are in the middle of snoozetober--I mean "championship" baseball so use this time wisely and check out CBS whose new tagline should be...Not for the elderly anymore! (If you need proof notice they don't even have a "token old couple" on Amazing Race!

Picking Up the Pace

After what I deemed to be a slow start I enjoyed last night's episode of Desperate Housewives. I don't think it was awesome and there were times I was a little bored, but overall I enjoyed it.

Not sure why all the prisoners had sticks, but I still thought it was funny that they attacked the lawyer. I liked that Andrew was back in the picture despite being sick of the George story and the poisoning Rex storyline will be back next week. I hope we see more of Andrew in the future and we get to the bottom of what he was telling the priest back last season.

It was also nice to see some of the women back together again. For the most part they have all been solo stories, but for a brief moment we saw three of them share a glass of wine, which was suspect with Gabrielle being pregnant.

I also liked that Susan kept the information about Zach to herself. Normally should would be falling all over herself in annoying fashion and I actually thought it was good to see a serious, protective side of her.

Lastly, as always I enjoyed Lynette's storyline the best. The jealousy over the imaginary nanny was great, but not as awesome as the "friend" getting run over by the garbage truck. As usual, Lynette's character is the most relatable.

George!

I think between Marshall on Alias and George on Desperate Housewives ABC has some of the funniest male characters on television. This show over the last two episodes has been great. I feel like the characters have a great dynamic and the story lines just keep moving.

I have to admit I'm not sure why Ellis Grey is even in the hospital, but it definitely is opening up a bunch of different things. Clearly saw the her and the chief thing coming, but I'm okay with that. It will be too much if he is Meredith's father, but other than that an interesting twist.

I am also not sure why Christina's mom was there other than to push the mother storylines. However it was nice to see Christina finally breakdown, but I hope that doesn't mean everything will be perfect with her and her man though.

Just as it was nice to see Christina breakdown it was also nice to see a softer side of Dr. Bailey. It's great to see strong women on television, but everyone has emotions and bad days and it's important to see "Characters" be "Human" and not so one dimensional.

Lastly, I hope it doesn't go on too long, but I do love the dynamic between Dr. McDreamy and the two women.

All Too Familiar....

A show about a female agent, working for a terrorist organization who thinks she is working for the CIA, but in fact is not. Sounds like such a good show, but I feel like I have seen it before..OH I HAVE...season one of Alias!

Looks like we may have run out of storylines.

It's not that I didn't like this episode, but letting Arvin Sloane out (again where is Arvin Clone?) of jail, unescorted (he'll probably escape), I've just seen it before.

I liked that Sydney II was a computer geek and we got some great Marshall time. I definitely feel she should have had her own cubicle, because who really likes working at a table like that with everyone all in your space.

I almost feel like I need to give up the show because It's not really wowing me. However it is the last season so you have to see it through. Hopefully it will get better. I hear we'll be seeing Sark soon so hopefully that will get things going.

Sad to say, but this was a disappointing JJ week.

Rose is Right

It's been a busy time between the jewish holidays, my brother's wedding, the never ending rain in New York so I have fallen behind on my television. I'm three weeks behind on Boston Legal, still haven't seen the last episode of Reunion before the break and I won't get to Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars until this weekend.

However I can always find time to watch Lost.

I have to say this wasn't my favorite episode. I feel like we are in a holding pattern introducing new characters and new storylines until we pick up momentum again. I'm wondering if all 6 hatches are on the island or this island has one of 6 that are spread out. I think they are all on this island but who knows.

I was also disappointed about Jin not really speaking english and Hurley's storyline. Yes, it was sad that his friend clearly dumped him or treated him differently after finding out about the money but that's not a new story. The part of that back story I liked the most was when Hurley asked that girl out. And I was sad to see his mother be so mean to him.

I think the problem that I am having is that I don't feel like everyone is together. It's difficult to explain, but I feel we are just focusing on one or two people and I got a little bored.

I did like that we found out that Rose was right and her husband is still alive. Plus he always brings me back to my Growing Pains days. It will definitely be interesting when the back of the plane people get integrated with the rest of the plane. It seems that they have turned into savages of sorts and I'm not so sure they will fit in. I'm hoping that the Others really do appear next week and that they are the people running the experiment. I think they have to give the viewers a little more than they are. I understand being bored every once in a while but don't let it continue.

How Does J.J. Do It?

J.J. Abrams must walk around with a headache all day trying to keep the mysteries of Lost and Alias a secret. How does he not get confused. Although maybe Prophet Five is really "The Others" and the guy in the box that is being freeze dried is Calvin.

Anyway, as you might be able to tell I still don't know what Prophet Five is and if someone could explain it that would just be dandy. I guess it really doesn't matter, because it is all about Sydney just going after the people that killed her Fiance, sound like season one anyone?

I can't imagine Sydney hanging out with that chemical is that good for the baby, and I'll be annoyed if that dude had a parachute as he "Killed" himself off the plane. Although I can't imagine a firefight with guns on an airplane is all that good either.

I'm sad for Sydney because all her friends are leaving and she is stuck with new people. I'm not convinced Dixon is here to stay either.

Overall, ok episode. Somewhat back to basics, a little repetitive, although I always like Marshall and it's nice to see the Stealth bomber getting some good use.

Bright Stole the Show

First and foremost Everwood was waaay better than last week. It was back to it's normal showing with relationship anxiety, family feuds and Bright blunders. He stole all the good lines for the night. Now that the first episode was dedicated to Irv and Edna I'm sure we won't see them for a bunch of episodes. I thing Harold needs to take a break as well. He is getting on my nerves and his character is becoming a charactacure.

Where's Jeff Goldblum?

I feel like he should show up any minute now on Lost given they are in Jurassic Park. I mean we have some crazy experiment, some crazy island, animals with logos on them and now polar bears that are also in the "orientation" video.

This was just a chock full episode where I didn't really know what was going on at any given point and was only left with questions.

What happens to Helen? Locke makes the phone sex operator use that name.
What happened to Jack's wife? Did she die?
Where was DEsMONd going? Why did he not think it was weird that he knew Jack?
When are we going to find out how Locke ended up in the wheelchair?
When will the heroin addiction begin?

It seems to me that the captors are not the "others" and just the others on the plane. What is really interesting is that it seems they have become savages of some sort and have a very different experience than the front of the plane. It will be an interesting dynamic of how people dealt with their situation.

I believe that that big scary dude is Rose's husband. Although I had imagined him as an old tiny man, it doesn't seem that way from what I've read. It's funny that Sawyer, the guy with one arm, gets the job of trying to climb out of the hole.

Some theories rolling around have "the others" as the people running the experiment and if you go back and look at the people on the boat they look like some of the people in the video. I'm not convinced just yet. Although that would make some interesting sense.

Of course the shocker...JIN SPEAKS ENGLISH...and there was no accent. hmmmmmmmm. Maybe next week we'll get some answers...probably not. Although I'm looking for some revolt once the word of food gets out.

What a letdown!

After last week's episode of Desperate Housewives I was all excited for this new season. After last night I was pretty disappointed. With the exception of the mystery of what's in the basement I thought the show was slow, a little boring and the storylines slightly repetitive.

Gabrielle/Carlos relationship is getting annoying. Stop bickering, just get divorced. Carlos seemed whiny at first and the storyline of him getting beat up in prison was stale. Better than if someone tried to pick him up, but still stale.

I'm tired of Susan being such a victim and the inappropriate relationship with her daughter always bothers me. She just shouldn't tell her everything.

I did like the Lynette/Tom seen in the bed, but I think it went overboard with the rat. I mean what mother would let a rat loose in their house? I know you suspend belief and all that, but I think for a lot of people Lynette is the most relatable character and this was ridiculous.

Bree. After last weeks awesome performance I could only be let down. I do wonder who owns so many black clothes and the slapping of the mother in law was pretty funny. What happened to the kids? I also feel the insurance investigation is going to irritate me.

Hopefully next week picks up.

On the other Hand.

I enjoyed Grey's Anatomy. Last week I wasn't as impressed as a lot of other people. I enjoyed the dynamics and the story lines tonight. For some reason George looked older/and taller tonight.

The whole judy doll thing was weird and funny. Also funny because there was an issue with Judy dolls last year on Curb Your Enthusiasm. I'm intrigued by Addison making a play for Dr. Shepard and the previews for next week had me intrigued.

Clearly there is going to be a little romance between Alex and the blond girl and the awkwardness between Olivia and George was great. Although the best scene for me when was the women ganged up on George at lunch and tried to speak for all women everywhere.

Not Caught Up

I'm not quite there with all my tv last week (blame it on waiting for my husband to be around so he could watch with me since he's addicted now too.) I did catch My Name is Earl and have to say the second episode (maybe it was the third) was truly funny. I definitely laughed out loud a few times and found myself really liking the brother.

Another Show Cut from the Fall Season

I just read that Martha Stewart : Apprentice, is moving to 9pm on Wed. against Lost and Veronica Mars. This means it gets dropped from my lineup. I wasn't invested yet anyway, and it looks like it may not even make it through the season. Oh well!

I'm Lost....and It's Alias!

Ha! Showing off my "sense of humor." ANYWAY...Alias. All summer WHO IS MICHAEL VAUGHN. I couldn't believe the season finale was obsessed and then for some reason as soon as they replayed it tonight I knew immediately that it was part of a coverup/conspiracy/out to get him thing. Don't know why it didn't register back in May. I might have had a little more sleep in the days that followed.

Well it seems Sydney and Vaugh/Micheau (that's my spelling trying to make it exotic) will never get to Santa Barbara. I had read all about his death and getting kicked off the show but I was still hoping it was a ruse and that we were getting false leaks. I was definitely caught up in the moment of the shooting and was a little shocked to tell you the truth. I'm not convinced he's done and that it could be a fake death with a bullet proof vest but that would be a little much. However it looks like it might be the last season, so ultimately who really cares if it's too much.

I was wondering what happenen to Arvin Clone and Arvin Sloane. It seemed Sloane was a little manic when we saw him in the cell and the Clone he just stopped showing up, does anyone know what happened to him?

Btw I never realized that with all of Sydney's talents she was a sketch artist too.

As the show ended in London for a second I figured Sydney would be working behind the bar and giving up the CIA life. I mean two of her life loves get killed/murdered because of what she does. If that is not a calling for a job change, I don't know what is.

As to the prophet 5 case. I have NO IDEA what they are talking about or what is going on. I don't get the Renee Ruin (again my idea of spelling and how things are going to turn out) or how the father, that cryptologist or anyone fits in. All I know is leave Rimbaldi out of it. Hopefully this one gets sorted out sooner than later so I can follow along.

Need a little help from DEsMONd

Tonight's premiere episode of Everwood got off to such a slow start I was hoping that DEsMONd would show up from Lost and give me some sort of clue on how he got there.

I didn't like the set up that from the beginning you knew Andy and Nina would work it out. Obviously they were but give us something. Additionally, I knew it was going to be Irv and Edna getting married, because anything else would be ridiculous. Not as ridiculous as that stupid centerpiece comment, but I digress.

Amy looked good and Delia is definitely growing up. It was funny when Irv said to the priest "to hell with that" and kissed Edna anyway. It was clear that Ephraim was going to show up at the end and it seems from the previews that Reed the "homosexual" is in the apartment so I'm not sure Bright's "secret boyfriend" is going to move in.

The episode did pick up some momentum near the end and hopefully it will hit its groove next week. I'm sure there will be lots going on because now that there is college involved and roomates that means more characters, more chaos. Hopefully, if anything, we lean more towards 90210 at CU than Saved by the Bell the College Years.

More Interested in the Hatch

I'm glad that they brought a little attention to Michael and Sawyer, but I have to say I was much more interested in the hatch on Lost than whether or not we had an "open water" situation on our hands.

I was disappointed that we still only got to "it's you." I was hoping for a little more. Of course I'm all caught up in what year DEsMONd and Jack met and what year DEsMONd ended up in the hatch and how he got there. Also, even though I'm sure they are starving I definitely WOULD not have chowed down on any of that food. Who knows what it is tainted with and did you not see the sign that said Quarantine. I'm sure the Apollo candy was a reference to something, but I don't know what it was. Also, where'd all that food come from?

At first I was confused b/c I didn't understand why we were seeing a repeat of Locke going down the hatch. I then thought it would be interesting to see the entire show continually from each person's perspective ala Kate watching Jack enter etc. It's very Back to the Future with Marty watching himself go to the Under the Sea dance and punch Biff in the face.

It was totally weird that Locke took his shoes off when he entered the room. At first I thought he wanted to be quiet/sneaky, but I actually think it was more than that. Did anyone catch the look on Sawyer's face by the way when he saved Michael he was all smirks until Michael lambasted him and he was back to his regular angry self.

Next week should be interesting since we start to meet some other plane survivors as well as the extras that were evidently in the Michael Jackson Thriller video by the looks of things. Of course that would tie in to the 1980's being replicated in the hatch.

Oh, and of course the numbers. Obviously the 108 was all the numbers added together after Locke plugged them in the computer. What you may not know is all the numbers represent numbers that have been retired by the New York Yankees. No other team in baseball has all those numbers retired. Just something to throw out there.

Who was at the Door?

I have to say I was a little surprised it was Logan on Veronica Mars, as the last we left him he was looking to get thrown off a bridge.

I don't love the jumping from Logan back to Duncan and I definitely don't love the Logan sleeping with the mom thing. You would think he wouldn't be into that with his dad going after Lilly.

Everyone seems to be saying how this episode was awesome. I thought it was fine/good and then I really liked the ending as it really threw us into things.

Just when you thought maybe Weavel and Veronica would make up and maybe he would have her look into who really killed Felix you get that surprise ending. I think there could be some good mysteries this year and it was a good episode to get things started.

Gladly, things are not back to "normal."

The Race is On!

Here we have it, Amazing Race: Family Edition. It's a little slower than the regular race and less miles will be covered, but I'm sure there will still be the same amount of yelling. Now instead of one person yelling at the driver from the back we have three back seat drivers all yelling at each other. I'm just hoping we don't see any of those kids get their asses kicked by their competitive parents.

My first question. I live in NY and I constantly find myself watching NYC being used as the centerpiece of many a reality television show. Do I EVER see these people around town? No. Just once I would like to be in the EMS or the Dominos Pizza or the Deli when the Amazing Racers, the people of Apprentice or whomever come running in looking for help, clue, etc only to screw them up. Fingers crossed...one day!

I was really looking forward to family edition. I even thought about submitting me and members of my own fam. However the thought of being humiliated on national tv by my mother yelling at me was enough of a discouragement. Now after seeing the Hater family I mean the Paolo's I'm glad I didn't join.

There's still too many families and too many people to start giving them nicknames. I'll have to wait until the "characters" develop a little more and each family gets more air time. I was all ready with the "token black couple," but ironically their name...Black. Go figure! (more on them later.)

I like the idea of the son in laws with the father in law, but I have to agree with "frank" that the father is due for a heart attack. Hopefully those boys will carry them through.

With two families from Louisiana I was hoping maybe they would have done a thing on how they are doing after the Hurricane, etc. We'll probably find out on the reunion show or near the end, or when they get eliminated. I'm sure America is rooting for one of the families to win thinking they could probably use the 1 million more than anyone. If anything I'm rooting from the family from New Orleans. The other Louisiana family had the father who kept saying how the man in the house is king or whatever....f-that!

The one thing I don't understand is why people flip out at the beginning if they are not in first. Don't they know it really doesn't matter and as the race continues they will have to wait for ferries for 6 hours so everyone catches up. Plus there will probably be a plane that pulls away from the gate and then comes back to pick up some contestants...I'm still bitter.

Final thoughts/questions on tonight's episode:

Favorite Line - "Can you tell me where the town of SOHO is?"
What's wrong with the son of "widowed mother?" There's something not right there.
What families play together like they showed in the intro?
When are there so many parking spots in New York City, especially on Broadway?
Who goes to 91st between park/lex on West Side Highway?
Why do people still follow other people? Have they not watched this show before?
If it's pouring out and you have to read a clue why not get in the car?

Lastly, I'm a little sad that the Black family was voted off. Not only was I sad for the kids, but I was sad for all the "token black family" jokes I had lined up.

Now with this two hour premiere I'll have to catch up on My Name is Earl and Boston Legal later in the week.

Bree is the Star

Bree definitely carried this season opener of Desperate Housewives. From her waiting until the "appropriate" time of 9:00am to let people know "about her news," to the threatening of her mother-in law and the priest about the way the funeral would go she was excellent.

Of course the piece de resistence was the funeral itself. Not only was Edie dressed perfectly, with the schmata on her head and her breasts popping out of her "black appropriate ensemble" nothing could have topped Bree forcing Lynette's husband to remove his tie and then in front of everyone change Rex from his "momma boy costume" to the man Bree loved. And then of course walking straight up the aisle out the front door. Maybe one of the best moments in television in a long time.

I do have to admit that I was hoping to see George somewhere in the congregation, but I'm sure he'll be showing up soon enough. It was nice to finally see the children again and Andrew's line about the grandma being "our bitch" was classic. I was a little surprised not to see the women of Wisteria lane sitting together at the funeral.

With regards to other aspects of the episode I have to admit I sort of was hoping that Zach was dead and it was nice to see that Carlos was finally in jail. I liked the setup of Lynette's storyline of going back to work and I had read that her new boss is actually preggers in real life so it could be interesting how that gets worked in, if in fact it does. It seems that ABC has us wondering what's in the hatch and now, what's in the basement. Hopefully this story line will evolve and we won't hit the sophomore slump.

Grey's Anatomy

I thought the episode was fine. I always love George and it was nice to see the episode keep it's fast pace. It was a very beginning of the new season episode. Answered some questions, brought up some more and throwing in a few surgeries in the middle.

All Caught Up...Mostly!

This weekend I spent my time watching The O.C., Reunion, Everybody Hates Chris, E.R. and Apprentice: Martha Stewart. Weekend well spent in my opinion. I still haven't watched Prison Break and now that it is just piling up on the TiVo it seems so daunting that I may have to drop it before I even begin. Therefore, if anyone has an opinion on whether or not I should get involved feel free to chime in.

I don't need to review all of the shows in detail because most of it isn't worth commenting on. So far I haven't been impressed at all with The O.C. I'm not giving it up, but none of the stories are interesting. The dean is clearly sleeping with that perky blonde girl and Jerri Ryan is obviously some single white female stalker. So far this season is what the Marissa and Ryan are going through...the worst year ever!

As for Reunion, I am definitely intrigued and may be the happiest with this new show than all the others. I'm happy to see the girl from North Shore and The O.C. has a job in another cheesy-guilty pleasure show. I am not sure how this show could sustain an entire season, but I'm willing to find out.

The only reason I was able to check out Everybody Hates Chris is because Alias hasn't started yet. Therefore this won't be part of my normal routine. I thought the show was okay funny. Definitely funnier than Joey so for those people I would make the switch to UPN. I'm hoping that as shows get shuffled around this one goes to a time that I could check it out a little more.

I won't really even comment on E.R. because I know I'm only one of like five people who still watch it. I just have to say it's always funny when they bring in a new actor to play the same character and hope the public doesn't notice.

Now for The Apprentice: Martha Stewart. First of all I'm glad that I gave up the regular Apprentice. Mostly because this show is almost the same if not identical and I definitely did not need two Apprentices. Plus I was so sick of the Donald that I am happy to give someone else a shot. Like the Apprentice, this is a show you could just become addicted to.

As for the bad/awful:

The cigar - It's ridiculous and I can't believe Martha puts up with it. Charles cannot connect with his audience if he's waving that cancer tube around.
Jim - So annoying and the way he slouched in the conference room was not connecting with his audience either.
Jeff - he deserved to go home. He was unbearable and I'm glad he has to go hang his head.
Primarius - It's the WORST name EVER

I'm Lost!

Even though I have seen every episode of Lost thus far I still tuned into the recap episode. However since I started when the premiere episode already started I got too excited, fast forwarded and went straight for the good stuff.

First of all when the show first started I thought this was a flashback. I was trying to guess if the guy was Jack, Sawyer, etc and the suddenly we are in the god forsaken cursed hatch.

Then quick cut to the darkness of the island and Hurley with those numbers. Did anyone notice how much scruff the dude had on his face. I felt like he was one big hair ball.

Anyway, all the darkness, fire, Shannon seeing Walt really starts to stress me out. This show makes me nervous. Then when Locke gets Kate to go first. I have to say if that was me, fuck that if you want to know what's in the hatch so badly you go. And by the way the trees NEVER hold. I mean that is the oldest trick in the book.

Oh we interrupt this program about a plane crash to show you a Jet Blue plane making an emergency landing with basically no real front landing gear. (For those of you who don't know the outcome the plane landed safely and all the people were fine...which I can't say for those on this island!)

Then Jack goes for the hatch...AY. Why does he throw the fire down. He knows there's water it's not going to help. My stress level is getting more and more.

The entire time I am interested in the Island, the hatch, etc, but not so much Jack's backstory. I felt I kind of knew all this stuff before and was a little blah...but then....IT'S YOU!!!!!...the guy who said he'd see Jack in the next life!

We interrupt this episode of Lost to show you a COMMERCIAL for Jet Blue. ie the same airline that is currently making an emergency landing.

Ack..until next week. What will happen? That hatch is freakin' crazy. It's like the biosphere in there. I just hope this season is as good or better than last season and doesn't go all sci-fi on us.

By the way, when did keyboards say execute rather than enter?

Oh and that damn dog. It's the devils dog I say!

What a Rockstar!

Before we get to tonight's winner of Rock Star: INXS let's discuss the show a little bit.

First enter former contestants. I was hoping that this show wouldn't be true Mark Burnett style and have the kicked off contestants involved in some way. Thankfully they just sat there and swayed. A few of them, ie Ty and Jordis looked totally unthrilled to be there and were cursing the contracts they probably signed that obligated them to be.

We start off with Mig who we know has know chance. The only thing he has going for him is that he is from Australia, but that really doesn't add up to much. He's good, but too theatrical and "just not right for the band...INXS." Anyway, he busts out with Bohemian Rhapsody. I have to say, for someone who does this for a living (the lead in a Queen play) he wasn't that good. I would have expected to be blown away...I wasn't. Although he was clearly going home anyway. Even if he sang Pretty Vegas.

Mig is followed up by J.D. The rockers were allowed to choose any song that had been done on the show. It would have been pretty funny if he did Trees. He seemed so nervous, in fact I think he hit himself with the microphone. I'm not sure I would have chosen the song that he did, but he rocked it. He is such an incredible performer.

Marty is now up and he looks petrified after J.D.'s performance. Marty has always freaked me out a little bit and tonight is no exception.

Now for the vote off. I love how INXS pretends they are deliberating. Clearly they have made their decisions already. Off goes Mig. He doesn't thank his wife? Maybe that was her in the balcony? Maybe it was the girl crying? Who else would be crying...CRYING...I mean c'mon.

Down to the final two and once again we hear songs by INXS. Enjoyed watching the performers...the songs...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Once again INXS pretends to deliberate, how could they even hear the performer while they were performing? And the winner is....

J.D.

Finally, one of these reality shows gets it right! Despite his cockiness he was by far the better performer and exactly what this band...INXS... needs.

To wrap up this summer filler...the most important lesson I learned is that I enjoyed the show, would watch a variation again, but I won't be buying any INXS albums anytime soon. They are just not that good. Maybe they'll redo their image now with J.D., but I found myself bored during many of their songs and wondering why I liked them in the first place.

Save NBC

That's what NBC was hoping with My Name is Earl. It was clear on Emmy night that Will (from Will & Grace) didn't find the joke about floundering NBC all that funny. I was all psyched up for this premier given the buzz and the fact that I was hoping to return to an NBC of yore.

The verdict...EH!

Once again loved the no or very limited commercials. That was the best part for me. I like the concept, like the illegitimate kids, like crabman but the execution...EH.

However, with all pilots they get another chance, so lets see what happens next week.

Doogie

Tonight was the premier of How I Met Your Mother. I have to say, while I didn't laugh out loud I didn't mind sitting there watching the show. I might even go as far as to say that I was intrigued.

I was able to watch the show without thinking about Doogie, and Bob Sagat's voice didn't even really bother me. I didn't love the character that Neil Patrick Harris played, but it is just the pilot so I'll let that go.

I would definately watch it again. The coloring seemed a bit weird to me, but I think that is CBS it is very much like other CBS shows that I have seen. It's hard to explain, but trust me. It didn't totally have that comic feel.

In Comparison....

At the same time is Kitchen Confidential on Fox. I decided to watch it late last night before falling asleep and therefore make an addition to this entry first thing this morning.

I have to say just like HIMYM above, I'm enjoying these short commercial breaks on these pilot episodes. I realize I watch these shows on TiVo, but they seemed shorter than ever.

Anyway, I liked this show. I enjoyed the fast past, the set up of the premise and of course Bradley Cooper. I am sorry to see him leave Alias but really what was he doing there except getting saved every once in a while and eating ice cream in Sydney's apartment.

I enjoyed the chaos that came through in this show and expect much more. And, unlike the show above I believe I chuckled a few times out loud.

To reply to the blogger who made a comment below before I posted this new edition, I agree. I am interested to see how both show maintain throughout the season to keep my interest, but for now they shall remain on my season pass manager.

As you know I'm still waaaay behing on Prison Break.Not event sure when I'll catch up.

Oh and just a little TV note for those of who you don't know...Tori Spelling and her man split. Now maybe she can get together with David Silver.

Emmy Review

Before I get into the meat of the night a few quick notes on this week's episode of The O.C.

It's funny how Tate Donovan is still listed as a guest star. Clearly that "marriage" is not going to work out.

The Jerri Ryan story is annoying to me. I mean first of all she has been there two days and she's out. Kristin isn't suspicious about her new stalker and then she goes to her house? I mean c'mon. Put down the hootch and take a look around.

I love how that carnival gets planned in one day AND how Seth and Summer are stuck on the ferris wheel as Ryan and Marissa walk away ostrasized by the dean who looks slightly like a younger Greatest American Hero.

Like Summer, I hope this is the best year ever although after seeing the first two episodes I'm not so sure.

ANYWAY.....the start of the television season is upon us (albeit a few started already that I am still catching up on.) Before we officially kick off the 2005-2006 season let's get it started by looking at "the best" of last season's TV with the Emmy Awards:

Highlights (in no particular order):

Opening sequence. Although I thought that guy from Earth, Wind and Fire had died or was near death after seeing him on American Idol a few months back.

Trump and Megan M. singing the theme song from Green Acres. (downside though is I thought this whole theme song thing was going to be funny for all of the songs)

Kristin Bell doing the theme from Fame. Although again on the funny, it would have been great if she did the Jeffersons. I see her "trumping" the Trump with a Veronica Mars musical on Broadway.

Bobby C. from Will and Grace not being able to read roman numerals when handing out the award to the director of the XXVIII Olympiad.

Now I know my blog is mostly dedicated to television and everything to do with it, but I also like to discuss other things entertainment. In that vain I would like to tell those of you in NYC about some things you should check out:

25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

This broadway show next to Wicked on 50th street is really funny. You sit in the round in what appears to be a high school gym. They use audience members as part of the play which adds to its hilarity. There are, as with any show, some slow moments but overall you will find yourself laughing and at many times in hysterics. Or if you are the woman near me crying with joy...literally out with the tissues.

Basically the premise is a county spelling bee to send the winner to nationals. The group is made up of various misfits and run by a demented vice principial and a former county spelling champion.

It seems you can get tix each day for $25 by going to the theatre or there seem to be standing room tickets as well. The show is a little less than 2 hours.

Nadine G - Singer Songwriter

Yes, I am doing a plug for a very good friend of mine, but I would only do it if she warranted it. Nadine, as I said, is a singer songwriter who has been in a bunch of festivals and has been awarded all sorts of acclaim.

Her tone is a little scat, a little jazz, soul, folk, rock, she has it all. I checked out her show the other night and it rocked. Sometimes she plays with her band and sometimes she goes solo. In both instances she's great.

First Episode of The O.C.

I finally got to watch the first episode of The O.C. I have to say I was fine with it. I was glad they tied up the Trey shooting issue b/c that would have annoyed me had it gone on longer. It's always nice when they come back from the summer hiatus show scenes from last season with the actors, reenacted but they look different and it's supposed to be continuous time, but it was clearly taped at a later date. However Ryan looked good, seemed a little more buff. I liked that they played around with the opening creds a little bit. Hopefully the O.C will get back to basics. Let's cross our fingers for a good season.

Stars are NOT like Us

Contrary to what US Weekly will tell you, Stars are NOT just like us. They may take out their own garbage, and go to Starbucks, but they also pay $22 for a hamburger at the Ivy and live in phat houses in Beverly Hills that none of can afford.

That's my take from my trip to Los Angeles for my 30th birthday.

Some of the highlights:

Saw Debra Messing (she looked angry), Rob Reiner and Martin Sheen
Viewed a taping of The King of Queens and it seems Leah Remini hates everyone
Ate at the Ivy
Dug in to some food at In n Out Burger
Drove around in a convertable and had a chance to check out Wisteria Lane, Aaron Spellings house and the Playboy Mansion.

Spent the day today catching up on the TV I missed. Haven't had a chance yet to check out Prison Break but will do so some time this week.

Watched Rock Star: INXS tonight and my only real comment is that the choir sucked, please don't ever bring them back.

Bawling for Alan Ball!

Yes, I'm a little delayed. I was at a wedding Sunday night and then went away again and didn't get a chance to see Six Feet Under until last night. I have also since read all the reviews that I had avoided for two days and I have to say I disagree with most of them.

The ending montage got a lot of flack in all the rags that I read, but I have to say I was bawling at the end and couldn't stop. I thought it was great and a perfect way to end the show.

With regards to other elements of the episode, I love all family gatherings whether they are at Brenda's house and Ted is stuck talking to Billy or at the Fisher house where they are all doing a well deserved, touching toast to Nate and reminiscing.

I was a little disappointed that there was no death at the beginning and expected Willa to be the final opening death on the show.

Overall a great show and I was sad that it was the end. I had to be reminded that they aren't real people.

ANOTHER Vacation

So I'm turning 30 on Sunday.... and to celebrate I'm going to the mecca of all pop culture...Los Angeles. Look for me in the rags as I'll be dining at the Ivy and trying to get on the Price is Right.

I have some shows from this weekend to still catch up on and from this week. I won't be back until the 29th of August (Monday) so I start catching up then.

Important TV Taping Alert

Even thought the official Television season doesn't start until the end of September. Fox is starting theirs with Prison Break this Monday the 29th at 8pm with a two hour premiere. This is supposedly one of the best new shows of the season so check it out.

So this morning as I drink my coffee getting ready for an state exam I need to take I started to review the fall TV schedule. I have to say there are a lot of conflicts with only two TV's. I admit that often these things work themselves out as shows are not as good as they are promoted to be, but from a starting point there are some problems.

Monday 8:30-9:00: Do I go How I Met Your Mother on CBS or Kitchen Confidential on Fox?

Tuesday 9-10: Already have Amazing Race on CBS. Now do I go Commander in Chief on ABC as well or My Name is Earl on NBC from 9:00-9:30?

How do I fit in the new Chris Rock Show? It overlaps too much.

There are some other conflicts which I'm going to take a gamble on. Also this show Reunion is getting some buzz with regards to guilty pleasures. Probably will check that out.

Movie Day

Yesterday spent the day at the movies. I checked out Four Brothers and Broken Flowers. I have to say I was eh on both of them. Both left a lot of unresolved questions but the first came to more closure. I would say if you have nothing to do on a weekend night months from now in the cold of winter rent FB and maybe pass on BF.

Bill Murray was pretty good. The movie was really slow paced and intriguing but it left me sort of flat. The movie just sort of ended and if it was really good I would have been disappointed. In this case I was like "un, ok." and walked out of the theatre. I could overanalyze it and make it into something deep, but I don't' really want to do that. I just want to watch a movie be entertained and leave. If I really wanted to think and over analyze I would read a book. I went to solely be entertained. Not to say movies shouldn't intellectually stimulate me, because they do, it just wasn't what I was in the mood for yesterday. I also think part of my problem is that I don't like Bill Murray. I HATED Lost in Translation and this is sort of like that but with more of a plot.

Overall Grade:

Another little Vacation....

So I went away again for a few days, this time to Connecticut to hang with my friend and her 3 and 5 year old children. Once again, I found myself watching pre-school television. It mainly centered around Dora the Explorer and her little friend Boots. I have to say maybe slightly better than Battle of the Network Reality TV Stars.

Now don't get me wrong, there is a good chance I will continue to watch this show and I anticipate it will get much better given all the fighting I saw on the previews, however I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of the first episode.

First of all I'm not sure I even understand why they have the "Correspondents." They bring nothing to the table. My favorite part though was Omarosa trying to be a real "sideline" reporter and it just made her look all the more ridiculous.

One of the funnier moments was Gervase saying how Susan Hawk should have had something done to her face as well as her body. It's clear that Jonathan is still an ass. I have to say that Charla did a really good job in jousting although I thought for a moment when she was pushed back that next time she was going to be picked up and thrown over by the stick.

The one thing that seemed the most ironic to me is that none of these people must watch RW/RR Challenge (which is a better show by the way--Oh Johnny Mosely). If they did watch especially men vs women they would know that the best way to do elimination with the least amount of fighting and in the most fair way is to do it solely on performance and then be done with it. All the personality, secret voting it never works. C'mon people do you not watch MTV?!

Speaking of Music...

I caught up on Rock Star: INXS and I have to say I actually thought all three women were going to get sent home the way it was being set up. I mean really none of them are going to lead INXS so you might as well get rid of them.

I actually didn't think anyone really except for MIG did that great of a job. He definitely has the advantage and the Australian thing only helps. It was nice that he called Jordis and Marty up, but they look ridiculous because they didn't know what to do, probably didn't even know the words.

I'd like to see more fighting between Marty and J.D. It's clear Marty and the whole house really can't stand the dude. I really believe there is no way J.D. can win. He has too much ego and the band doesn't want to deal with that.

Only One More Episode Left....

I will be a little sad to see Six Feet Under go. But I have to say, it's clear to me that because the show is going off the air, Alan Ball and crew felt it was easy to make it political and throw out an American soldier death into the mix. Now it's not that I don't agree with the sentiments of Claire in her drunken/high/grief outburst/rage it's just that I prefer the deaths when the baker falls into the mixer or the hiker gets mauled by a cougar. It's more in the spirit of the show. Now I see the whole brother connection, but I didn't need that.

Given all this it was interesting to see everyone grieving in their own demented Fisher way. And by demented I know you all thought that scene between Brenda and Billy was real and you were covering your eyes and saying "no no no."

At least the one thing we know about how things are going to leave off next week is that Maya is going to be the most fucked up kid in the universe. David needs to serious counseling, and Maggie will get kicked out of the quaker community because she clearly has some rage and there is no room for that in the room of peace.

The two saddest parts for me were Claire having to give up her car which really was her staple to sanity and the conversation between Vanessa and the dead guy's sister. I hope Rico doesn't leave the Fisher's because they really need him to keep it all together.

I'm a little bored with the boyz...

I haven't written about Entourage in a while because I haven't been so thrilled with it. Yes there are a few moments in each episode where I chuckle aloud (Turtle saying he's never had a job, or Drama getting hard in front of Brooke Shields), but the Aquaman storyline went on too long and now the Mandy Moore "relationship" is a snoozer to me. I think this show does better when you treat this "Entourage" as a group and not different character storylines.

All Coming Together

This is what I found most annoying on Hooking Up. Last night was the final episode of this show and I have to admit as annoying as Amy was I actually missed her a little bit. She added the desperation to the show. As much as this show was trash I have to say I didn't mind watching it, but was extremely annoyed that at the end when they followed up with a lot of the women they were all in relationships now. (even Amy had met someone). It was a little too convenient for me, but I guess that is TV.

A few comments on The Real World. So Danny's mother died. The cameras go with him to Boston and intrude on his grieving. What is more annoying is the Iraqi soldier girl and her lack of understanding on anything. When discussing whether Danny will come back she had decided he will only because he'll miss Melinda. She had no concept on the fact that his mother died. It was infuriating to me. I'm not doing justice to her overally lack of common sense. I actually don't understand how she was a soldier.

Only a few more weeks until fall tv returns. Thank god, I've been watching too much trash.

So my first question is is why do you almost never hear a person's accent when they sing? Can someone please answer that?

Dave Navarro is seriously getting on my nerves. Not quite Paula nerves, but he is too cliche.

It seems that Rock Star is taking its cue from Idol by getting rid of the Monday (although it is on VH1) and doing those video clip things. I actually kind of liked not having Monday and not knowing what they are going to sing.

J.D. seemed like he was trying to be humble tonight. His whole cockiness is going to bring him down ultimately so it is interesting that he is trying to tone that down.

I thought Marty was AWESOME and I bet if he sang that song with the band it actually would have sucked and this really pulled him through. I doubt it would happen but an all acoustic week would be interesting.

It was pretty funny that any time anyone did poorly the camera panned to Jessica. She is probably going home even though Brandon is more irritating.

Best performance of the night - TY. I don't think I have ever really listened to the words of that song and really got into it. He should definitely do the encore.

Oh in defense of Jordis going in the bottom three I think overall she rocks just not on tonight's song and therefore won't go home.

Lastly, since I opened it, let's close with outfits. What was Deana wearing? She definitely she have given some of that extra cloth to Brooke.

Death

Back from VA Beach and there is so much crappy summer TV to be watching (except SFU of course)

First it was Nate last week on Six Feet Under, now we have to see Danny lose his mom on The Real World. Clearly, one is way more traumatic for all involved than the other.

Overall I thought SFU was another strong episode. The two things I didn't like were that the hijacking guy kept coming back and that no one paid any attention to Brenda. Now I realize no one likes her, but I do feel like people other than her own mother should be consoling her. I was hoping for a big scene between her and Maggie at the gravesite, but the scene at the front door had to do. I was also expecting some sort of miscarriage, but that would have been too much for one episode. Whereas this episode was handled really well, bringing out all the key character traits in everyone there is a lot to be desired in

The Real World: Austin.

Yes, I am too old to be watching this show. Yes it is horrible, yes the characters only play to the camera and have nothing to say and yes I should almost not be allowed to write about television if I watch this show. However a few points:

On this episode (valentine's day incidentally) Danny's mother died. We already knew they had a tumultuous relationship so you knew there would be drama. It seemed to me that people in the house knew before Danny knew like the staff was given a head's up. It seemed to scripted. (except for Danny.) Plus, it seemed like people were laughing (although that is how people sometimes deal when it is uncomfortable, and awkward.) However it was like a wake up call to the other "characters" because they have been playing to the cameras, making shit up, looking at this like one big party which it is and then some real shit happened and they don't know how to deal.

I was hoping that by Danny going home to deal with the death of his mother that maybe the show would open up and we would see some other stuff with other characters, etc and leave Danny alone to his grief in private with his family. But no, it seems that MTV is going with him to invade this very personal moment in time. I'm sure it is all part of the contract, but there should be a level of decency for god sakes.

Speaking of decency...(as I say in a mocking tone)

Hooking Up

This show is still awful, but there is only one episode left. As always, let's break it down:

The Bad:

1. Who goes to Lucky Chang's as their hang out?

2. Riesha - She calls her police friend to let him know she is having a man stay over on the couch. Um, let's discuss our trust issues.

The Very Very Bad:

1. Amy - it's a good thing no one watches this show except for me, because she would never date again.

2. Sonya - I feel like if the cameras weren't on her date with her, there could have been a very after school episode (date rape) issue with her and that guy.

3. Sharpie - Who the hell puts sharpie on their skin to cover up holes in their sweater AND THEN ADMITS it on the date.

Back to the rest of my tv...there is so so much.

The Wiggles....

Just wanted to let you know that I'm on vacation in Virginia visiting my friends who have a 2 year old (actually turned two yesterday.) Therefore my television watching has been relegated to The Wiggles (gay australian men), Oobi (a bunch of people with plastic eyes glued to their hands) and Sesame (that's Sesame Street for those not in the two year old know..and who doesn't love Sesame.)

All I can tell you is that I'm happy that Barney is not being watched and that there are a lot of new people on Sesame Street since I was a kid and suprisingly a lot of people are still there. Also for those of you who don't know Snufalufagus (not spelled right I know) is no longer invisible. My oh my how things change.

I did catch an episode of that American Idol dance show You Think You Can Dance (I think that is what it was called) and to be honest I was very eh on it. Although I was told given all the crap that I watch it really isn't for me to judge. I will say I was intrigued by the one final storyline where a dancer contestant totally dissed a judge and it seems that next week he gets called out on it, that I would watch.

I also had an opportunity to see March of the Penguins. I definitely liked Winged Migration better, but it was a totally fascinating movie and it seems that the life of a Penguin is very difficult and requires a lot of walking and being freezing. It also seems they are hungry a lot. Plus I'm not convinced they can really tell each other apart which would prove difficult if you are trying to find your Penguin child.

I'll be on vacation through Sunday so next week there will be lots of TV catch up.

I thought the Cougar was bad....

Yikers on Six Feet Under. Before we get to the shocker of the night some stuff I thought about while I was watching.

First of all I thought this entire episode was outstanding. From Claire's craziness, to her date with the Republican, to the fact that Nate was just in a hallway with nothing hooked up to him, to the fact that the lawyer and Maggie hung out in the waiting room and the awkwardness with everyone to seeing Ruth go through the wilderness hoping she doesn't get eaten by a cougar and instead finds a bus of Koreans who begin to give her love-life advice.

Then it all ends with Nate having this crazy ass dream that somehow ties into David's dream which ties back to him getting abducted to his horrible year and then his brother dying. In some ways it would have been awesome if the show just ended there and that was the end of it. And now there are so many questions, what will happen to Maya? What happens now that he told Brenda he wanted to end it, will she say something? It's craziness. Everyone knew someone was going to die and it was definitely one of the main characters but I thought it would be closer to the end of the show. Again it would have been interesting to see this as the end.

What's so poetic is how the first episode the dad died and brought Nate/Brenda together and right before his own death he wanted to be apart. Very poetic. Looking forward to next week. Very blown away by the death and kind of shocked me even though a small part of me thought maybe this was it. There might also be some connection that Nathaniel Sr. was killed by a bus and Ruth was on a bus when Nate died, but who really knows that is probably stretching it.

Suddenly Nate dies and then...

Entourage

How do I get in the mood for this one, when I'm still reeling from Nate's death and wondering if his whole head was shaved except his sideburns.

I thought this was a pretty good episode, but the whole 3-5 minutes of U2 at the end really annoyed me. I find the show short enough as it is and this was just gratuitous.

Comeback

This could have been one of the best episodes yet. (Pretty much good night all around on HBO.) The Lincoln Navigator guy cracked me up and the fact that the crazy Jan girl was on there gave me a good chuckle. It was also a good character developing episode all around.

Weekend Watchin'

Checked out Over There on FX. Really intense show. My one complaint is that it was hard for me to remember who was who and sometimes didn't know what was going on. Check it out.

Saw Hustle & Flow on Saturday night aka 8-Mile meets Boyz in the Hood. Good movie. Wasn't totally invested in all the characters it was more about me wondering how it was going to unfold. The theme soundtrack has now been stuck in my head and that's slightly annoying, but I would say check it out or at least rent it.

So I wish I had some great things to say about Rock Star: INXS and what a shock that TWO people got the boot, but alas my husband deleted the episode before I could watch it. I will say we started watching it together, but I had been out and ended up falling asleep and it was an accident, but I was a little sad. Ultimately I'm fine with the vote off, because neither one was going to win this thing so why not just vote them off now.

Hooking Up

I'm still watching this show, and it's still ridiculous. Only two more episodes left so I'm already invested, so why give up now.

That was my feeling on Rock Star: INXS with the exception of Ty who I thought did a really great job I couldn't really get into anyone else.

First off they started the show by saying the "unexpected loss of Neil." Um he sucked last week there was no reason he should still be on the show.

As for this week the bad highlights:

Heather: I feel like she must have been on too much cold medicine. It was as if she didn't want to move from the mike, didn't know the words and was way to chill to be singing Sheryl Crow.

J.D.: I felt that he was pretending to use a different voice, like a fake accent and at the same time he was yelling. He didn't really know the words and chose the part where he only sings "We are the Champions" over and over again. His cockiness is going to be the reason he doesn't win. INXS just doesn't want to deal with it and the other contestants hate him. Plus that B.S. with his sister, c'mon.

Daphne: It wasn't her singing that was necessarily so bad, although I wasn't into it. It was her outfit. I can't believe she was complimented on it. She looked like the bride of frankenstein.

Who gets voted off? Hard to say. J.D. is probably in the bottom three along with Heather anyone could really be the third. Even if J.D. is in the bottom three I don't believe this is his week to go.

Summary (not writing all over again) -

Watching a lot of bad TV this summer.
Also watching some good TV (Entourage, Six Feet Under, The Comeback), but easier to write about bad TV than good TV.
Saw Wedding Crashers this weekend - I would give it a B+. Didn't think it was as awesome as everyone else.
Rented Hitch and Coach Carter. Good rentals, that's all I can say about that.
Looking forward to Over There premiering this week on FX.

If you haven't already, check out the final episode of 30 Days. 43 year old mom tries to teach her college age daughter about the dangers of binge drinking so binge drinks for 30 days. Nothing like seeing a 43 year old stay at home mom turn into a drunk, get hungover, and of course puke. She sent a real good message to her 9 year old son who starts to cry because mommy won't play with him anymore.

The show Hooking Up is awful. The women come across as total freaks and extremely desperate. None of these women on tonight's episode should be dating and it's not surprising they are still single given some of the guys they are choosing to go out with and their criteria for choosing them.

The Very Very Bad:

1. Amy goes on 3 dates, only thinks marriage, man meets family, they say no, she dumps him.

2. Couple takes dance lessons on first date. I see how you can learn a lot about the person, however a lot of dance places have you dance with a lot of people in the class so that's not fun.

3. Many of the women post pictures of themselves in a bikini...who does that!

4. Woman goes out with guy whose is 28, complains that he's 28.

5. Woman picks guy because he is shirtless and laying on leopard sheets...again who does that!

6. One woman is so incredibly whiny and seems drunk all the time. Asks her date if he's gay.

Based on the way these women are presenting themselves, none of them should be dating ever again after this show finishes airing. All men are going to want to stay away.

Of course I'm talking about INXS (drink). Now that I find myself listening to their music each Wednesday night I'm realizing that maybe they only had like 2 or 3 songs that I really enjoyed, none of which were sung last night.

Also for the record I don't think Suzie did such a good job with Roxanne on Tuesday night.

I love the chaos and it seems there definitely was some with J.D. I'm looking for some "real" reality show strategy now and hoping the rock stars form some sort of alliance to stick him with the worst song possible each week. That would be awesome.

I was totally fine to see Neil get the boot. He just wasn't good and I'm sure his dance moves would have gotten old. The goodbye speech that INXS (drink) gives is ridiculous and then fact that they are like come over for a goodbye is funny to me since from the show it seems the band and the contestants have very little contact.

Lastly it seems we have a new catchphrase:

1st: You're Fired
Now: You are just not right for our band..........INXS (drink).

So 13 people is still a lot for me to deal with on Rock Star: INXS. There are too many people to keep track of who's who and too many people I would eliminate and you know aren't going to make it, but a few more episodes.

I would like to see more on how they are choosing their songs. I mean I know they decide among themselves and that the songs are given to them, but I would be interested in seeing more of the process. I'm sure it's more involved than everyone really just getting along except for that one issue between those two women that came up Monday night.

How many times can the word INXS be said? It is going to become a drinking game, mark my words.

My prediction for the bottom three:

Marty - First he looks like the dude who was Hugh Grant's roommate on Notting Hill and secondly he wasn't that good.

Suzie - She just wasn't that good.

Neil - Well first of all he got screwed by having to sing Bryan Adams, secondly he was just awful awful awful. He looked like he was on drugs and his interaction with the INXS (drink) was awkward. It's too bad because he had that whole Rolling Stone thing going, the thing is that was/is his only bit.

Alternate - Purple Haze girl or R.E.M girl although I feel like America will feel like the R.E.M chick got screwed so maybe leave her alone.

Now on to J.D. OOOOOOH J.D. why did you have to speak. First show I didn't like you because you were too manic. Last week I thought yo did a really good job and toned it down. I was happy with your Alanis this week and you showed just the right amount of angst....THEN you had to go and suck up to INXS (drink) and diss all your housemates at the same time. What you said didn't even make sense. While they were watching the band you were loving the band. You should have just taken the compliment and left and felt no need to "give one back." Now living in the house is going to be awkward and they had even toasted you last week.

What a lot of the contestants are forgetting is that this is a competition. So in theory they will be working with the band at some point. Therefore the sexual innuendos, the sucking up, etc is ridiculous. You want to be respected. I feel like some of the women would slut themselves out to win this competition and that comes across, such poor strategy.

The UPN has finally figured out to show Veronica Mars in chronological order. Or at least two episodes, we'll see what happens next week. I mean I get that it's the summer and needs to be shortened, but still.

Another New Show

And by this I mean, Hooking Up on CBS. For those of you not familiar it is about tracking people who are doing online dating. It follows them on different dates and the such. It is not even worth doing a good/bad because it's mostly bad, yet intriguing. More specifically, I'm sure I'll watch it again. Let's break it down another way (relates to multiple women):

Funny:

On first date guy asks girl if she shaved her arms and then pretends to wipe something off her cleavage.

Girl gets cake and doesn't think you are a stalker freak and run away, in fact tells you she is looking for a husband and says she is really into you. (See things that make you a loser below for more context)

Girl complains guy on date is only looking at her cleavage, yet she is wearing a low neck/open shirt with tattoo between breasts pointing down to said cleavage.

Girl thinks the idea of going out with a Fabio is sexy and attractive (See things that make you a loser below for more context)

Man asks woman on first date if "she needs some love"

Things That Make You a Loser:

Woman is afraid of putting her picture online or giving her real name--YET she is on a national television show

Things I didn't Know:

You can "rent" horses in NYC and ride them through the streets (albeit with a bike helmet.)

That it makes woman look like they are desperate and eager for something and even though the men are in the same boat I think the women are the ones that look weaker. Would like to see men more on the pursuing side. Makes it seem that women need men.

They Had Come So Far....

Last week we left off with Chuck and Caitalin (or however you spell her name) winning the $250,000 on Beauty and the Geek and feeling all warm inside because the social experiment worked. After watching the hour too long reunion I felt everyone was either fake or dumb and I definitely lost that lovin' feeling.

First off I must give props to my boy Joe. I love him. He is such a cutie and he should put his virginity up on ebay he would get many takers. In fact I'm not so sure he doesn't and this whole blushing/boyish thing is just an act.

Secondly, the make-up people. Were they working on this show because Chuck looked awful. Aside from that he did an awful job covering up his disdain and hatred for Scarlet.

It's clear to me that Brad and Erin are going nowhere and Lauren is the dumbest person on the show. I think that that girl who asked Sean (aka big teeth) if he were dating was the actual girl he has been dating. They gave each other a look after the question as if to say, "good job honey, thanks for making me look good."

Keeping up the Reality

Now onto the other reality show of the night Rock Star: INXS

The Good:

America votes on the bottom three, but ultimately INXS chooses who goes home

None of that American Idol bullshit with going through each person "you're safe." Get down to business. (although there was that J.D. bit, but I'll forgive that)

Bottom three sing an INXS song (how do they learn it so quick?) - Great marketing buildup, and developing of new audiences.

Will going home. His voice was just bad.

The Bad:

Dave Navarro sits on some sort of throne

Daphne wasn't in the bottom three

Not bad yet, but the goodbye's each week could become repetitive and cheesy.

I haven't been writing not because I haven't been watching television, but because the shows have not been eliciting a lot of things for me to say. That's summer television for you. I am looking forward to the Beauty and the Geek reunion this Wednesday night. Plus I should voice my annoyance with Veronica Mars. UPN is re-playing the show this summer to get people into it. I thought it would be fun to watch to see if I liked it since it gets such good press, the problem...THEY ARE SHOWING IT OUT OF ORDER...this is infuriating.

Sunday Shows

I really like Six Feet Under tonight. It was nice to see Patricia Clarkson and gang again. Although I actually saw her a few months ago around the corner from my house, however it was nice to see her on TV. I think I should start drinking a lot more wine and definitely out of the bottle. I would probably be a lot cooler and laid back.

For once, Nate and Brenda seemed like a normal couple. It was nice to have a little break from their drama. And for a SPLIT second Mia looked like a normal child and not the alien she normally is.

I think the highlight for me was Claire's pantyhose solo in her office and the depressing cubicle characters. It made me look back with "fond" business memories. And, any time you put a guy with turrets on TV it's always funny. (no offense to my turrets readers.)

Plus, there is nothing like a mother/daughter bonding moment when your mom is looking through your drawers for weed or even watching your mother-in law get high. Wasn't surprising that Claire didn't get the grant.

I liked the juxtaposition of the women not needing men and then Rico's wife "needing the man" to take care of the heavy house things. Although I actually didn't like that and felt all "woman hear me roar."

I also liked the ending with everyone saying goodbye to Felicia and ultimately I wondered if maybe Ruth was going to go back to George not out of love, but out of loneliness. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him.

Entourage

I did like tonight's episode but I can't really tell you why. I loved when Drama got his ass kicked and it was clear Turtle was going to get his kicked as well. I thought Ari was at the top of his game tonight and like last season I feel like this one is building momentum at each episode. The one downside...the awful "commercial" at the end. What was that?!

Eagle Scout My Ass!

Does that really happen? I guess it does on Six Feet Under. Not only is Billy crazy but I guess crazy people walk around in their underwear or bathrobes all the time. Between him and George we have a real crazy farm. It was nice to see the crazies bond over a beer while comparing their medications.

The surrogate chick totally freaks me out. I'm pretty sure that's the chick who played Jan in the Brady Bunch Movie...Marsha Marsha Marsha!!

The Asian woman from the knitting store also looked familiar to me, I couldn't quite place her.

BTW I thought that Ruth didn't know that George was getting the shock treatments again. Last week it was supposed to be kept a secret.

It was nice to see the old woman from the wedding singer getting some work again. It was also nice to see the dad, we haven't seen him in a while.

Once again I found myself pondering how fucked up the Fisher's are. I mean they really couldn't be more ridiculous and drama filled. First of all if anyone ever spoke to me the way Nate spoke to Brenda that would be the end of that. And P.S. bird flying in your house definitely a bad sign. I think it symbols death or something, which is slated to happen by the end of the season.

So now that Claire leaves Billy does he just rot in the apartment in his underwear? He's out of control.

My favorite line of the night, "They sleep right through it." There is nothing more a guy likes to hear why screwing his wife or ex-wife as the case may be that their children are used to the sound of her having sex with men.

Veronica Mars

So I checked out this show and it was okay. The problem is that they are not showing all the episodes over the summer so I have to just suck up the ones that are missed and get what I need from the "previously seen on...." We'll see if I catch up with it.

Check it Out

30 Days on FX. Saw the first two episodes and definitely found the show interesting. Tomorrow a devout Christian becomes "Muslim" for 30 days, should be interesting. So for I liked the first episode the best. Who knew that if you are poor in Columbus, Ohio you can get a whole apartment full of free furniture.

The Station Agent

I think the reference to this movie was my favorite part of Entourage tonight. I thought Ari was great and was in his glory. I, of course, took personal satisfaction that he was in therapy with his wife and had a "batphone" for emergencies.

It is nice to see that his former assistant will be making an appearance next week. It was also funny to see how unslick Drama is with the ladies, particularly in the Dr.'s office.

I liked this episode although my husband felt it was too predictable, so I'm wondering what others guys thought.

So Pathetic.

I'm still not sure on my opinion on The Comeback. I find it oddly entertaining although she is just so incredibly pathetic and depressing. Part of me strongly dislikes the show but I still find myself watching it. I do think they must get rid of the hairdresser. He sort of creeps me out.

Day at the Movies....

What a fun day. Had a crazy week and was looking forward to doing nothing but a having a big bag of popcorn some soda and the big screen.

First up, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Despite the woman who brought her bored 6 year old and the altercation that ensued I enjoyed the movie. It did get a little slow at one point but if you don't have time to see it in the theatre or don't want to pay $10.75 (that's what I had to pay) rent it on video. One of the highlights...Adam Brody AKA Seth Cohen wearing a "Fight Club" T-Shirt.

Followed by Cinderella Man. This was a movie I totally enjoyed. I know no one is going because the summer is all about "popcorn" movies, but check it out. If you liked Seabiscuit you'll like this and more. Basically same story but with a guy. Downtrodden, second chances, tear jerker, underdog..you know the drill. I was literally on the edge of my seat at certain points.

Now for a little TV.

Because of my crazy week I'm still catching up, but I did see Beauty and the Geek.

First of all I find Richard so annoying and unbearable. My husband thinks he'll make a lot of money. I just think he is an overracting buffoon. I really wanted to see him go. I felt bad for Lauren. She must have felt so rejected being the last girl asked out on a "date" and then she had to go with Richard. Then on their "date" his jacket looked so awkward it was like one of those guys who showed up at a restaurant and had to wear the jacket from the coatroom.

The whole number challenge was B.S. Who gives out their number on a whim like that to random guys on the street it is absolutely ridiculous.

Again, it was shown that if you say you are confident you are going to win and start throwing out percentages you are definitely not going to win. I don't understand why the people on reality TV haven't figured this out yet.

I have to admit that Sean and the other guy who got booted looked a lot better after their make-over. I didn't see that much of a difference with Chuck or Richard.

Part of me feels like Richard's "character" is America and the other people on the show being PUNKED by Ashton.

Wax on Wax Off...

I often wonder what happened to Ralph Macchio and now because of Entourage I know. He got awkward looking, old and his nose became very pronounced. That probably was his real wife and kid just like that was most likely the real Playboy Mansion. My husband is trying to get himself in when we visit LA this summer. I'm guessing he won't make the cut, maybe he should try the monkey cages.

I know you are supposed to suspend disbelief and all that when you watch TV, but why would the studios want Vince for Aquaman that badly. I just feel like they are putting too much into the chase. Maybe that's the whole thing "Vince Chase."

E, is more styling lately which I like. He would be my choice. Ari is still as much of an ass as ever but I like when his wife shows who has the balls in the family.

Three Months Later...

So in honor of father's day I finally saw Star Wars Episode III. I have to admit I really liked it. One and Two sucked and I haven't seen 4-6 in as many years as they have been out. I think the reason I liked it so much is because I love Yoda but more importantly it just had a story that was good, involved, dark, etc. I am thinking about going to rent 4-6 since it's been so long since I have seen them to tie it all together.

So should my kids watch 1-6 or 4-6 and 1-3?

That's what I have to say about tonight's episode of Beauty and the Geek. I know with Karma and all that will probably bite me in the ass, but really what was she doing on the show? She was just not attractive and you knew that the ugly team was going to get das boot. PLUS, Brad had that Herpies thing going on with his lip. You know he probably got that from "lifesize barbie model."

I'm still sad about Joe, but sort of liking Chuck now. Richard is out of control and it is clearly all an act. I felt that before the elimination game all the contestants were smiling at each other like they knew the Richard team would stay.

A few questions:

1. Are the guys allowed to help during the challenge? During the rocket and the car last week it seemed they were helping in some way more than just encouragement.

2. How scary and big are Shawn's teeth?

3. How ugly is Krystal? I know we went over this just want to reiterate.

4. Those people/judges were fashion experts? Um, they could use some help.

5. What happens if both teams who won wanted to choose the same team for elimination?

6. Does Shawn get a "fashion badge" to add to his scout uniform now that he won that challenge?

Kinda like this show and I do feel like it is good for the guys' self esteem.

Also taped 30 days tonight, but I'm sleepy so will check it out tomorrow.

I'm still very "eh" on this show. It moves so slowly and it is entirely featured on the one character and she is so incredibly pathetic that it is hard to emphathize. I mean Larry David is pathetic but he is funny. They should definitely get rid of the hairdresser character because I just find him annoying. The best part of Sunday's episode was the "reality" shows. The one with the women trying out to be porn stars had me cracking up, probably better than half the crap that is on actual network TV.

The Challenge

How pathetic is Tonya on RR/RW Challenge? She is so stupid and so paranoid. I still can't get over the fact that these people just don't have jobs. I have to say I watched the launch episode for the new Real World starting next week. I generally am too old for this show now, but this one looks like it might have real potential, but we'll see.

That's all I have to say about the intro on tonight's Six Feet Under. First of all lets discuss Nate's kid. Why does she have to be so funny looking? She just looks like an alien. I feel really bad for George and for a second I thought that Ruth really did flip out on him. Maybe she wishes she ended up with that Russian guy after all.

The whole rico storyline was pretty funny. First of all when they were hooking up on the couch they looked like they were 14 and then it was so clear he got the brushoff and instead he becomes a stalker.

I can never get over how fucked up this show is. With David asking Claire for her eggs, and then Nate's friend saying young girls are turning him on it never ends. And you know Billy is going to go off the deep end.

Btw I'm still trying to get through the Brad Pitt interview on PrimeTime Live. I watch snippits every once in a while. It's mostly about his work in Africa, nothing juicy.

I thought that Entourage fell a little short tonight. Ari is coming across as too much of an ass and I thought the story was not that great. The only real funny part was Drama's obsession with calves and the homophobe reaction to it. I did like the guy camaraderie thing when they were rallying around E, who by the way I felt sad for. I wonder if Nicky Hilton will make an appearance. I think this episode was too "guy" for me!

TV Catch Up

The first show of the night was Fire Me...Please. Basically the premise is that there are two individuals competing to get fired from their job to as close to 3:00pm as possible. They can't go over the designated time and they must get fired in order to win the $25,000 at stake.

The show is an hour and they show two competitions. It is kind of funny to see what people try and do to get fired but with the strategy of pacing themselves until 3:00pm. Some of them acted totally crazy and liked paced around the store whistling. One guy kept making references to the cappuccino machine being possessed by the devil and another woman in a hat story just kept trying on all the hats. The best one though was one of the contestants per her hands in her bosses armpit to try and keep them warm. The people that work in the store have no idea what is going on and just think these people are crazy. I think it would be more fun to be in this show than to watch it.

The irritating part is the laugh track and the back and forth editing. It doesn't really matter though because I'm going to be watching Veronica Mars repeats at the same time. But if you want to check it out, it's Tuesday nights at 9:00.

Poor Joe

I'm really sad to see Joe go on Beauty and the Geek. I don't feel the need to do spoiler alert because it is the summer and who is really watching this stuff! I liked this episode better than last week and I recommend it for fun summer TV.

I like the interviews with the contestants. The Barbie Doll model can't believe she fell for a nerd. Um, was this only one day so far, I mean C'mon. Plus do any of these people have real jobs, nerds included. Beer Spokesmodel, Life Size Barbie Model, Assistant Scout Master, Mensa member, I mean seriously. What's also funny is the girls all seem the same to me so I have no concept of their actual names.

Of course the biggest shocker of the evening was life size barbie's departure speech in that she realizes she is "kinda shallow." The end of the show quiz elimination is kind of tense and much more difficult than last week. Not only am I sad about Joe leaving, but shocked that we got left with the ugly girl.

Starting Over

The theme of tonight's episode of Six Feet Under. I have to say I've been looking forward to this show for a while now and I was a little disappointed. I felt that it was a little disjointed and needs to get back in the groove. I'll forgive only in that it's the first episode after a long hiatus so you need to get a lot of stories going. One of my favorite parts was that the justice of the peace looked like the woman from Poltergeist.

Hopefully the season will get better since it's is the last one. Maybe we'll get to see Rico break up with more women over IM.

Some Real Summer Shows!

Tonight was the return of Entourage and the premier of The Comeback. At the beginning of last season I was NOT an Entourage fan. It definitely was not the Sex in the City for men, and I found the characters not at all appealing. By the end of the short summer season I did enjoy it and really started getting into the different stories.

Now for this season's premier. It definitely began where last season left off and by that I mean I was engaged and enjoyed the stories. I was sorry to see that Emily the assistant was no longer on, but was pleased to see that Vince developed a backbone and was more of a character not just a shell. I sort of enjoyed the episode enough to think it could have been longer and was surprised on how fast the half-hour went.

One side note of what I also liked. I enjoyed that the show did a recap, all shows should do that at the beginning of their season.

As someone who is married to a long-gilander it was nice to see a shout out for Eddie's Pizza. This is a favorite of my husband and his friends and I have to say they have a good pizza. I truly hope that it is in fact the place that we like so much. We'll have to follow up on that.

Now a note for the guy's reading this blog. It's such a typical guy thing to think that it is easier for a girl to hold out than a guy. Plus, to think that since you held out so long it is our obligation to blow you or period=blow job. Please wake up to reality. Oh and by the way girls do like to be wined and dined despite what television tells you.

Dr. Regina Phalange

That is one of the problems I had with The Comeback. Some people might have had a problem getting Phoebe out of their heads all I could think of was Regina Phalange. Obviously they are the same people but in my mind also very different. The voice started to become very annoying to me.

I haven't decided what I think of the show. Part of me wants to say it was horrible despite a few chuckles, but at the same time I think Lisa Kudrow played the part of a desperate has been perfectly. So maybe it will turn out that she does a good job, but I'm not that interested in the show or topic. I will certainly give it another chance to see how it all develops.

One Hit Wonder

Or as NBC calls it Hit me Baby One More Time. So basically this show is American Idol with "real" singers. They are taking people who had a hit or were big but are now nothing and having them sing their most popular song as well as a song that is now popular by another artist. At the end of the show the studio audience votes for the winner and that person gets money which goes to charity.

Tonight's episode has Tiffany, Flock of Seagulls and more. I think a later episode has Vanilla Ice.

It's an awful show, but I'm slightly intrigued. I wish that I was watching on TiVo so I can fast forward. The best part is seeing how much these people have aged and they have gotten fat. I have to say that the singers on American Idol are much better. This is like the outtake show of American Idol. You definitely feel sorry for these people and sort of feel that the money should go to them and not charity because they must be hard up if they are doing this show.

My one question is why on summer TV reality shows does the lighting seem all screwy and different and the hosts seems more annoying and odd than during the regular season?

Beauty and the Geek

Took a break from studying tonight to check this show out. The premise is basically 7 "geeks" and 7 "dumb as shit pretty girls" where some aren't pretty. They are paired up in teams and have challenges where the dumb girls try and learn stuff like tattoo is spelled with two "t's" in the middle and the guys learn how to dance.

The guys are not all as dorky as the stereotype with the exception of one who is the "white urkel." Oh and there is the guy whose profession is listed as the V.P. of the Dukes of Hazzard Club. And there is one guy who gets bloody noses because he is nervous and stressed.

There are some definite funny moments. One girl thought Massachusetts was the state that is east of W. Virginia. There are some other moments like that which cause a few chuckles.

Wednesday's at 8pm. The WB. Check it out if you are around.

Summer Rotation

This is what I'm thinking:

Beauty and the Geek (Wednesday's at 8pm WB) - Now I know it seems ridiculous, but it is getting some pretty hilarious reviews so we'll see. Definitely need to check it out.

The Comeback (Sunday's at 9:30pm HBO) - Lisa Kudrow, got to see what it's all about.

Entourage (Sunday's at 9pm HBO) - Started off not liking this show, but it's grown on me.

Six Feet Under (Monday's at 9pm HBO) - LOVE this show even though it is totally fucked up. This is the last season so definitely need to be tuning in.

Plus, I am thinking about checking out Veronica Mars. It has received great reviews and I heard they are going to be showing the season over again starting mid-June. Of course I'm also finishing up RR/RW Challenge.

I'm sure there will be other things, but this is high level. Also need to start working out the fall schedule since they are shoving a bunch of stuff up against each other and it is going to require some videotaping finesse.

Weekend Movies

Rented In Good Company Friday night. Thought it was enjoyable. Definitely a good renter and not entirely what I thought it would be. Good story and I always enjoy Dennis Quaid. I also like Topher Grace, but I'm a little sad he is going to be joining the big blockbusters of the world. B+.

Also checked out Mad Hot Ballroom. Premise was really good and I was really excited to see the movie, but I thought it felt a little flat. It definitely went on too long and didn't have the same type of character development that Spellbound did. I also thought it was slow at points and to me, by the end, it was obvious who was the winner. Whereas with Spellbound I was more on the edge of my seat. Given the price of movies these days I wouldn't run out to see it and just wait for it to hit the smaller screen. There definitely were parts that I liked and once the competition got going I was more into it, but again just okay and disappointing given my expectations. C+/B-.

Looking forward to Cinderella Man next weekend and may be going to see Madagascar with my brother on Monday, but not sure yet.

Maybe It's Gas....

That was my favorite line in the season finale of Everwood. For those of you that missed it, Bright's line was "Maybe I like her, maybe it's gas."

Pretty good episode and I like the season ender/cliff hanger of the love triangle. I do believe it is selfish of Andy Brown to lay his feelings on the line with Nina moving in with Jake.

It seems that by not showing any kids when you finally do show them they look so much older. I thought Sam was still like 4 and Delia looked like a teenager.

Seems that with the explosive hits of Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy Everwood has given up the voice over and with that Irv and Edna. Who get as much, if not less screen time, than the homeless guy in Andy's office.

I never thought about how there are changing tables in men's restrooms. I mean it makes sense but I just never thought about it.

It was clear many many episodes ago that Amy wasn't going to go to Princeton, so it was not at all a surprise to see her throw that application into the trash.

Well, the 2004-2005 television season is officially over for me. It's a good thing I have a summer line-up. I'll write more about that over the weekend.

AI Wrap-Up

I didn't get a chance to watch Everwood tonight so I'll have to focus my attention on American Idol final thoughts.

Results Show
I realize that Fox gets the high ratings with the results show but what I think they should do is use the results show to garner attention/ratings for other shows that they want to promote. So for example, I am not a watcher, but they are continually trying to get a fan base for Arrested Development. One week put the results as one of the commercial breaks and people will have to tune in, another week do it with House, etc. This way the public is forced to watch some new show on Fox and Fox can build out and promote their schedule. Although with shows like Life as a Stick, Stacked and The Simple Life maybe they need the results show to be its own entity.

Judges
I believe that what AI needs is a regular person judge like me or you. In addition to the other judges. In essence we are the ones that are voting (although I don't actually vote) and we are the ones that are hearing what we want to hear and are "regular" people. Therefore I think the public would want to hear what a "normal" person has to say. Someone that is not in the music biz or musically trained.

Cast
For next season I think they should take the top four from each season and do an AI all-star. I think it would garner crazy ratings and be a huge hit. Who is THE American Idol?

I would like to see, and I've said this before, the judges pick a contestant who is mediocre who the public could be convinced is actually good. The judges would go hard to the hoop in love with this person to see if they would win. I say at least top four.

Original Song

I think almost all the final original songs are not that good. Give the finalists something good to sing that fits there musical style and shows them off.

What a jam-packed night. Season finale overload with Lost, Alias and American Idol.

In the order that I watched them....

It's All About Freedom!

This is the theory I'm going with on Lost. All those that have been focused on this season were looking for some sort of escape, whether it be from the law, the cursed money, having to turn over their baby, their father in laws, their abusive boyfriends, their wheelchair, drugs, the clutch of a parent's scorn and so much more.

What have we learned?

You can't trust the French lady...um, clearly you can't even understand her, but she may not be as crazy as she seems!
Gun powder and a match on your face fixes up a deep rock scar
Black smoke doesn't only mean there is no new pope yet
If your character is super annoying you are going to die (Arnie/Arnst, whatever)

Things were not really resolved this week like we were fortunate enough to see this past Sunday on Desperate Housewives. We were left with more questions like:

Who are "The Others?"
What's in the hatch?
What do they want with Walt?
Will any of the "extras" be real cast members or replaced by better actors?

You knew someone was going to die at the Black Rock. Last time someone investigated an abandoned form of transportation ie the drug plane someone died. I really wanted Charlie to walk away from the Heroin. I wanted to yell out, walk away, don't do it. I like sober Charlie better.

Not sure who is crazier the French woman or Locke who plays with dynamite and tries to chase the monster.

Totally laughed out loud with Hurley running through the airport.

All in all pretty good season finale, wasn't like oh my god with the cliffhanger. Okay with where we are until next season, I've seen J.J do better, which brings me to...

Are You Kidding Me!

I thought the "where has she been for two years" ending was bad enough on Alias. But now, tonight's ending was crazy.

Who is Michael Vaughn? Clearly he is not dead, but seriously. This is most likely the story that has been going on with Jack and Sloane and how they have been in cahoots. You have to know that Jack and Sloane are in on it and Sydney was the only one in the dark. He'll probably have some sort of amnesia and forget. Which brings me again to my point re; Santa Barbara. Sydney and Vaughn (or whoever he is) are not meant to go there...EVER!

I'm not really sure what to make of this new development. I definitely did not see it coming and I didn't anticipate the car crash. It seemed like he kept looking behind him as if someone were following them. Did he also work for SD6, is he a double agent, is APO really the CIA? I have to think it is, but really who knows. I wonder if the writers even know yet or they are just figuring it out. I'm not even sure what I would like to see out of this story. It is something that will definitely have me ponder and definitely has me thinking over the summer.

I feel as though Nadia will be sedated for a while as I hear she is not signed on for next season, if only for a few episodes. I'm very happy or I think I am happy that we are done with Rimbaldi. Again with the flooding water chasing after them and the destruction of the big ball. I hope we are also done with Sloane Clone.

I also heard that by moving Alias to Thursday's next year they are gearing up for it to be the last season. Ugh Ugh. This show won't come on again until late September at the earliest. This is so freaking frustrating...ARRRGH! So far the best cliff hanger of the television season!

Two Hours is Too Much!

Clearly I'm talking about American Idol. I probably watched it in about 45 minutes. Easily fast forward through the group songs, the recaps, the stupid skits and the boring interviews. I do have to say that I think Mikalah Gordon found her calling to be the next annoying Joan Rivers. The role suited her well.

This show really only needs to be the normal half hour. By continuing to flaunt the other idols will only hurt tour sales. They suck! And they suck worse together!

I agree with Simon that I think Latoya was drunk. It was such a shame because I really did like her when she was on the show. At first when they said Matt Rogers, I was like "who?" I don't even remember what season he was on but this role suited him well.

Tonight's show definitely showed off Paula's psycho-ness. And whereas I like the skit of making fun of Simon as a parody of Paula's situation it was like a Saturday Night Live skit that went on way to long. (Much like tonight's blog.)

Carrie's hair looks awful and I wish Simon would button up his shirt.

Two more highlights before I get to the results:

Not only that David Hasselhoff made an appearance but that his "biggest fan" is the one eyed monster from The Goonies.
How pissed Ford must be b/c Ryan never mentioned the type of car that was given away or that it was a Ford. What a blown marketing opportunity.

Now for the results:

I think both were good singers and both have a career ahead of them but I think Bo is much more marketable and was much more consistent through the competition. I think he was sabotaged and got screwed with the two awful original songs which were much better suited for Carrie. Plus, why he chose Vehicle I will never know. I also think that by Simon plugging her as The American Idol it influences the votes. It's not that I don't think Carrie deserved to win I just think Bo deserved it more. Ultimately I think that the label will be sorry because I think Bo would have been better for them because people like Carrie come a dime a dozen.

What was interesting though is that I didn't hear them say (unless I fast forwarded through) how close the votes were and to me that implies that Carrie blew Bo away which surprises me.

That's all for me tonight. I have to digest all this television. Tomorrow night I'll watch this week's Everwood as well as give a little Idol wrap up on what I think they should do with the show.

A Tear Was Shed....

I don't like to admit it, but I actually got welled up a little bit when watching Rob and Amber Get Married. Yes, Rob and his friends are a bit thugish and he can barely speak English. And yes, all his friends do is drink and they were probably drunk for the entire month of planning. But there is something endearing about them as a couple and I really feel like they love each other.

I was surprised that Rob put together his own vows as I wasn't sure he could write, but they were heartfelt and honest. Seeing him in a home design store was almost as funny as watching his friends put together the house. Given the keg I would check over everything to make sure it's all stable before I go jumping into that canopy bed.

There were a few classic one liners like Rob saying he liked the wedding planner, but didn't "like like him." The gay couple from Amazing Race would have been proud of the elaborate shi-shi -ness of the wedding and that Rob is not the Neanderthal they thought him to be.

I do wonder what Rob and Amber are going to do in Florida. In fact I never knew what she did before she won the million. I'm sure this is not the last we'll see of them, but I can definitely use a break.

One last note on this wedding. I have to admit everytime Rob kissed someone it did make me chuckle a bit as that seemed the anti-rob. I mean this is the guy who drove past the brothers when they turned over their jeep. Now he's kissing guys on the cheek left and right. Just didn't seem right.

A Night of Musak...

The night started with the Sarah McLachlan concert at The Garden. If you are in the city and having nothing to do Wednesday night and are TiVoing the Lost and Alias season finales I would say stop by, buy some tix and check it out. It was a really good concert and she is a great performer. Sang a lot of favorites and some new stuff too. Even the opening band had some good stuff....

All Dressed Up and Ready to Play

It's the big finale of American Idol. Simon wore a jacket over his t-shirt, Bo clearly got his beard trimmed, locks straightened and a facial. This is serious! Although on that first song he looked like a cross between John Lennon, Willie Nelson and Jesus. He really is trying to reach out to everyone.

First off the songs. I thought both songs the contestants chose were bad choices and that they both had sung better songs during the season. Bo needs to put the mike stand down once in a while. It's like his security blanket.

As for the original songs..Ugh. The Long Long Road was a Long Long Song. I found it so incredibly boring and whereas I thought Bo sang it much worse than Carrie it still wasn't good. As for the other one, Bo sang it much better but I still didn't like the song.

Not sure who to call this one for. I feel like America could vote for Carrie thinking Bo will definitely get the contract no matter what. Even though I think Bo is much more marketable and versatile I think Simon is usually right on these things and he is pushing Carrie. I think she has the slight edge. Until tomorrow....

What Happened to the Matinee?

Went to the movies this afternoon to see The Interpreter. It was the first showing and the cost...$10.75! I could hardly believe it, it just seems so ridiculous. You keep reading about how the movie season is sluggish well maybe because it is so freakin' expensive to see a movie. You can rent like 3 movies from NetFlix, do On Demand or just watch HBO.

Of course given the expense of the movie I had to sneak into another as well. Okay, if I'm being honest I always do the sneak, but I like to try and justify it. So I caught a showing of Monster-in-Law. Not as bad as you would think but clearly don't be paying for this movie. If it comes on HBO and there is really nothing else on it is midly entertaining and I even laughed out loud a few times.

As for The Interpreter it was okay. It was a little disjointed and slow at times but I had wanted to see if for a while so I was satisfied. I would say given the price of movies either time it to go along with Crash and sneak in or just save your money for Crash.

Movies I'm still looking forward to seeing are; Cinderella Man, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Mad Hot Ballroom, Madagascar and a bunch more. Scheduled to see Star Wars with my dad in the next few weeks. Hopefully he'll pay!

The Beginning of a Sad Week....

So this is it, the last week of the 2004-2005 television season. Let's all take a moment to reflect on what a good fun year it's been. To kick off the week there was some closure on Desperate Housewives except that Zana looked Chinese as an infant and two scenes later was an entirely different baby. I still have never heard of a boy named Dana and if you know someone please give a shout out.

I was surprised that "Mary Angela" (combo Mary Alice and Angela) didn't so much as steal the baby as arranged a sale. You would think she would be smarter and not go somewhere that someone at the hospital had family.

It's nice to see that next season we'll have a new freak on Wisteria Lane. I did like how the show started with a death and ended with a death. Looks like season two will start will a funeral much like season one did. Maybe we'll see the kids at the funeral because seriously...

WHERE ARE THE KIDS!!! Andrew goes into this whole devil plan thing and never shows up again. We don't even see them at their father's bedside. It is sad that Rex died thinking Brie tried to kill him. I do feel like the wrong drug thing should have been figured out, like that should just be in the blood stream.

Looks like we have some good things going on for season two. I thought the cliff hangers were okay nothing that will keep me up over the summer. My biggest issue is how long will it take Paul to walk back from the coal/ice/marble mine that was last used in Superman.

Poor George!

Finally George gets some action on Grey's Anatomy, and not only does he get "The Syph" but he finds out that Alex was sleeping with the girl too. Nice to see him step up with a backbone and try and beat the crap out of Alex. Now he'll get a little 'spect.

I'm hoping over the summer they rework the opening segment of the show and make it more to the theme of what the show is all about.

Yikers on the ovary and the cheating wife. Not sure if Burke should have spilled the beans as I'm not sure it was really his place. All I know is that if this show has taught me anything it's check into the hospital for a little something and end up with a whole list of other problems.

I enjoyed the Izzie/Christina relationship.

Thought the episode was not one of the best of the season and the last five minutes wasn't all it was hyped up to be (it rarely is). I knew a woman out of Shep's past was coming and I was pretty sure it was going to be his wife. Gives us a starting point for season two.

Channel Surfing

Checked out an episode of Cold Case on CBS and Game Show Moments Gone Bananas on VH1. The first show freaked me out a little and made me want to check my closets in the house and the second made me laugh out loud. If you are channel surfing and come across the latter definitely hang out for a while as some of the game shows in England are quite funny.

"Lost" with Questions....

Saying Goodbye

It is not so much that I was sad to see John Carter leave on ER, but I really can't believe that I have been watching the show for 11 years. It was nice to see the old pictures of Anthony Edwards, George Clooney and Eric LaSalle. I guess it is a little crazy to think GEORGE CLOONEY was on this show.

The one thing I do like about ER is that it's self contained, pretty much. I enjoyed the season finale and then I'm done for the summer. No real cliff hangers, nothing that will keep me up at night. Yes, there are some continuing story lines but nothing of significant importance.

Maybe now that Carter has left it is time for me to move on a well. I guess we'll have to see what happens in the fall.

No Brainer...

I thought I would watch some other television and then catch up on The Apprentice and not have to deal with all the fluff. Had I known there would be a 20 minute recap I would have waited. All I have to say is thank god this show was only an hour.

It was clear that Trump knew who he was going to pick and was fighting for things to say, but really had nothing. We had no cast interviews, no real infighting between the two finalists and Trump trying to cause controversy that wasn't even there.

My favorite part of the whole night was when Tana went crazy and showed she was much better suited for Jerry Springer than she was for The Apprentice.

Spoiler Alert

One final note on this very lackluster season. I was a little disappointed that Tana didn't win and get to work on the Miss Universe Pageant. I thought for sure if she had won we would have heard and seen more of the Bedazzler.

Plus I'm not sure whose voice is more annoying. Kendra's or Mikalah's from American Idol. I'm looking forward to a break from this show.

The Gang's All Here!

It seemed that everyone was back on The O.C. I am a little sad that this was the final episode and now we'll have to wait 3+ months to see what happens to "the new-old Ryan Atwood."

Hopefully the Trey/Skank story is done with and maybe now Melissa will be driven back to drinking and can join Kirsten in rehab.

I wonder if Julie's daughter will ever return during a real season other than summer. I am also wondering if Julie got money from Caleb and if Jimmy will be a part of next season.

I agree with some of the critics that this season went through a bit of a sophomore slump so hopefully with the dumping of Caleb, the return of Jimmy and hopefully the removal of Trey/Skank and Zach we can return to the essence of The O.C. and get back to basics. Although I'm sure we'll be seeing some Theresa drama next season.

Best line of the night was by Jimmy to Haley in reference to if she knew about the North Shore. Note reference to the failed show that she was one..which by the way I watched.

To Be Expected...

I have to say I'm not surprised on the American Idol showdown. I just wanted to say that for the people that gave up on the show early on to come back next Tuesday night. Yes, there will be a lot of fluff. Yes, Paula will be dancing around singing and clapping like a seal. And Yes, we'll have to endure a lot of "Dawg's", but singing wise it could/should be fun. Although the ending should be clear as "B-Ice."

Spoiler Alert

In case you didn't figure it out by now it's Carrie and Bo in the final two. Vonzell showed up big, but I think she was too awkward to make it all the way. However this is the first time that the entire final three was really strong. Plus not since Clay and Reuben will we have seen such a good showdown.

A Movie that Shouldn't be Missed

So instead of catching up on TV like I should have been I decided to head out to the movies and check out Crash. This was an EXCELLENT movie and should be seen by all. The writing, character development, themes and overall flow of the movie was done incredibly well. It seems that everyone is in this movie, all the characters intertwine and all of them are endearing in some way. The movie definitely has you intrigued, on the edge of your seat and the choices the writer makes are not always the one you think are going to happen.

Nouveau Star

So there I am in Paris, getting ready for bed. I look at the TV and France's version of American Idol is on. It was their final showdown between a hottie, aryan looking kid and a girl who could be his sister. Unlike our idol, not only did the judges get involved and on the stage the final two contestants did songs together and they looked like they were about to make out. Both seemed pretty good (but what do I know about French pop music), and the girl came in first.

Now onto what matters...the REAL American Idol.

This really has turned into a competition, I mean not so much as to who will win but which of the girls will make it to the top two. Throughout the competition I think that you really look from performance to performance and for the most part look at each separately. With the exception that if someone has a really bad week, but overall they have been good you let that week go. Now I think you look at overall performance. With the exception of a slow start I think Vonzell has been the most consistent.

However, I predict Carrie and Bo. Carrie just looks more comfortable on stage and Vonzell seems awkward and nervous. Bo was just amazing tonight although I agreed with Simon on the last song. He blew Clay away on the Elton John song, and was dramatic on the second. I could just imagine the arena dead quiet. It almost made me think I would actually by his album. I do think it would have been funny if the judges made Bo sing "I feel like a woman."

Paula was back to her old ways of clapping and standing. I thought it was funny how she made the comment how the judges have gotten to know the contestants. I thought that was the whole thing, that the judges are supposed to stay away and have no contact.

I think I started off being really disappointed in this season, but I have to say I'm caught up in it now and looking forward to fast forward through most of the finale since it will be mostly fluff.

One last note on tonight's episode. Is Randy allowed to say to Carrie, "Girl, you can blow!"

Famous Last Words

The famous last words of any reality show are, "I know I won!" These words were uttered by Tana this past week on The Apprentice, by Rob and Amber on The Race and so many others. It is the editors/producers way of just mocking you.

Never have I seen a task on TV go so horribly wrong and make a person look so incredibly bad. Tana just looked like a dumb hick who had no sense of urgency and no control of the situation. If we are counting on HER for NYC2012, I say book your tickets for Paris.

She was so caught up in "her employees" and trash talking people that she just didn't have a clue.

All I can say I'm looking forward to now is will Kelly show up next Thursday to pass the torch.

"Out of Office"

I'm sorry to say that I am leaving tomorrow night (Wednesday) for a vacation until Monday night. I'm going abroad so there will be no watching television. I know this is hard to believe given the end of the season, but rest assured my TiVo is set and I have instructed the person staying in my apartment not to touch the television for fear they will screw something up.

Therefore, I will probably not be posting my thoughts until Tuesday the 17th (maybe Monday), but probably not. I know it will be old news by then, but hopefully I will bring new insight to the table.

I Think it Was Fixed!

Despite being happy for the winners on The Amazing Race, I think it was fixed and it kind of pisses me off. More on that later.

You know it was going to be a crazy race when Romber starts off by saying, it's us the survivors, the Beauty Queen and the Black People in Jamaica. He came off way to cocky and to sure of himself. In TV land that only means one thing, you are most likely not going to win. That's editing folks.

This was the first time I saw tension between Rob and Amber and saw Amber get a little irritated at Rob. Especially with her comment, "I'll make you happy and then you make me happy after the race." This coupled with her focusing on marriage and family at the end of the race makes me believe they had some sort of bargain.

Kelly bringing up the status of their relationship while on the race was ludicrous. This was not the time to define yourselves. It is funny to watch how she proclaims her love and he is stand-offish and snears. I was surprised that Ron's military-ness only came up once. Of course it was in context of not wanting to be controlled by her. When they were cutting the onions I was expecting some sort of mess hall comment. There was some vindication that Kelly was the one that got the golf ball on the green. I was happy she finally did something right.

Now I love the Amazing Race, but it does get on my nerves how one team can be ahead and then something doesn't open until 7:30am. I realize they have to do it, but it gets on my nerves from time to time none the less. I also think it's funny that these taxi's wait around forever. A few minutes I can understand, but on the boat task and the limbo task it seemed they waited forever.

Now, let's talk about the winners.

Spoiler Alert

Now I'm very happy that Uchenna and Joyce won. I was rooting for Romber, but I think Uchenna and Joyce played well, played hard and they were a good exciting team. I mean she shaved her head for pete's sake. Of course I got wrapped in their wanting to have a child, their teamwork and the strengthening of their relationship...HOWEVER.

NEVER in my life has a plane come back to get two passengers once it has left the gate. More than that NEVER in my life has a plane come back to get two passengers WHO WERE ON STANDBY!! I strongly believe that this was fixed to make the race more exciting. Obviously Rob and Amber would have had about an hour and 40 minute lead if they were the only ones on the flight and they would have won. Clearly they would have gotten lost still with the cigar but not that much time worthy. Yes, I think J&U winning is nice, but it all leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and got me a tad riled up. If I was Rob I would be super angry when I watched the show.

Also it was clear that U&J were going to win and that the time it took them to get the money at the end was just editing. Although I would have liked them to stiff the guy and run to the finish line and then come back and worry about it. It would have been better if the taxi guy ran after them. I mean this was for a million dollars, screw the taxi dude. I guess Uchenna is a better person than I.

Well, sadly my TiVo says no more Amazing Race's are scheduled. Looking forward to the next edition...families.

What a Letdown!

It was hard to focus on American Idol since I watched Amazing Race first. I was all excited and riled up and so watching the foursome sing country and then the Philadelphia songs was somewhat boring.

Overall I didn't like the theme. I thought Carrie was eh, but that is also because I'm sick of hearing her sing country. Bo had some good song choices (except I can watch The Apprentice to hear that awful Money song) and the fact that Vonzell has her emotional breakdown will most likely save her from elimination. I definitely think something must have happened in her day for her to be so upset.

When Anthony first started singing both his songs I kind of tuned out b/c I am somewhat over him. However, I was drawn back in and kind of liked what he did. I have never heard to people sing the same song and thought he did a much better job than Carrie.

Thought Paula should have stayed away from the word "love" when referring to the contestants, less it be misconstrued as an invitation to her house.

Think Bo has this one locked up.

Balls to the Wall...

The most commonly used phrase in Real World/Road Rules Challenge. I guess that is what you get when you watch a show full of drunk, raging, forever unemployed hacks.

Where's Edna and Irv?

While watching Everwood tonight I realized we haven't seen them in a while. I feel like we may not see them for the rest of the season either. Does he even do voiceover's for the show anymore?

I felt like the Dr. rushed Rose through her cancer explanation and treatment. I felt like she needed more information to make the proper decisions. I also believe that Andy could have been more supportive of Dr. Abbott and told him to go home and be with his family and that he would take over his patients.

Poor Topher. Amy did put it really well on how things can take over your life and your thoughts sometimes of equal proportion, but the issues themselves are something very little and something huge. It does give you perspective.

Predictions:

Brights doesn't move out to be around the house and help out
Amy doesn't go to Princeton, or goes for one semester and comes back but I think the former
Ephraim leaves
Delia gives up baseball hats forever
Nina and Andy's feelings come to a head in the season finale.
Jake leaves sometime next season early on.

What's Her Real Motive?

Mrs. Huber's sister on Desperate Housewives' motive cannot simply be to give the boy a good home. What was interesting though is that she said to Paul how he was once a noble guy. Which got me thinking. He and Mary Alice (Angela--what's his real name is it Paul?) stole Zana to potentially give him a better home, they couldn't have a child etc, so maybe once he really wanted to be a dad and he was a good dad. Although stealing, killing people, etc not on the checklist for Parents Magazine, but the intentions were there. So maybe he is a true good guy trying to protect his family and will go to any lengths...but then he leaves his son behind. So what are her motives?

I'm also not sure on what the detectives motives were for telling Paul. That job is over, he got paid move on to the next one. Unless he's playing both for money or he is concerned about getting implicated in something somehow, but I am not sure what. I would have like to see what Susan would have done with all of the "real" information.

Carlos is still not in jail and it didn't look like he was going next week either. I do have to say that so far I'm surprised that it seems without a doubt "Mrs. Solice" is keeping the baby. There wasn't even a thought/discussion it was almost like a given.

Where are Brie and Rex's kids? I get drawn in slightly by little Satan, but then they all but disappear.

It is humorous how every once in a while they do show how "desperate" women can be. Nothing I like better than having my man propose to me drunk with his dead wife's ring.

Loved Tom in the leopard speedo. It must have been funny off-set when he read that he had to do it on the show. I feel like he and Felicity had a "we're even" type joke with her in the maid's uniform and him in the speedo. It is a little sad that Lynette does look worse and worse each week.

Lastly, I feel like it should be a lot easier to figure out that it's Rex's medicine that is causing the problem. Like it wouldn't show up in his blood or something. That story is going on too long, I'd rather start dealing with the ramifications.

I Told You To Pay Attention

Last week after Grey's Anatomy I said to pay attention on the pregnancy. Someone asked more about it, but I didn't want to give it away fully. That could be an interesting storyline. Especially when it gets out she's sleeping with HER boss too.

I have to say that my original instincts on the insecure staple girl were incorrect. First I thought she got a bad tattoo/piercing in Mexico and it got infected (ironically what happened to the other dude). Than I thought botched abortion. Didn't see the staple thing coming, although should have picked it up when she said she had hardly lost any weight.

The parent thing was very irritating. When can a Dr. stand in and say enough, leave your child alone you are a negative influence and are screwing her up. In essence that is what Meredith did, but I thought it should have come a little sooner.

Ahhh the days when you could hear your roommates having sex. I'm glad that the whole Shep/Meredith thing is getting out and they are progressing it a little bit. I hear some wrenches get thrown in soon in the way of another woman.

So it seems that the cast from Once and Again are making it into our television hospitals. First Shane West on ER and now Sela Ward's sister plays the girlfriend of the key swallower.

I am happy that George said something about the whole drunk doctor thing I just think he handled it wrong. He should have taken Shep aside (I feel like I can call him Shep, we're tight) and said something. Even if he didn't and did what he did Shep should have looked into the situation a little. It was nice to see George "be a man."

The handshake between George and Shep (okay, I'm getting bored with that nickname) was such a guy machismo thing. The one guy holds the hand a little longer you can imagine each trying to show off their strength while he gets across his message.

Btw it seems that "he's looking bad" is a euphemism for lets use the paddles this dude's gonna die.

Nick My Savior

Tonight I met the TiVo God. My new Series 2 140-TiVo arrived the other day and has been waiting to be set up. I didn't want to mess with my shows so I waited until Friday when nothing is really on. (Okay Drumline was on, but I've already seen it on cable twice.)

I called TiVo to activate it and deactivate my old one (I got the new one for free for being a TiVo rewards member) and they totally screwed it up. After three more phone calls, three disconnections, I found Nick.

Nick was an independent thinker. He got others involved when necessary. He worked to resolve my frustrations and rectify the situation.

Then the unthinkable happened...I got disconnected AGAIN!!!!!!

This could not be happening I thought. It is after 11:00pm, I'm sick, I'm tired and I want TiVo to be working! And, we were so close to completion.

In a psycho craze I yelled out, called TiVo back...

Call-Waiting Beeped...

And then the TRULY UNTHINKABLE, UNBELIEVABLE, MIRACLE INDUCING, thing occurred...

Nick called ME BACK!!!! I couldn't believe it. Nick saved the day! In my entire life this has never ever happened and I have been disconnected many a time. He apologized and we finally brought my issue to completion.

So now, as I wait for TiVo to download and set my old one up in the bedroom my faith in humanity or in TiVo at least has been restored...for now!

(We'll see what happens on my credit card statement and how many times I was charged.)

Don't Want to Mess with the Theme!

That's how you knew who the final two would be on The Apprentice. Not only is Craig a dud, there is not much more to him than hair picks, slow talkin' and a condescending attitude. He had no chance. There was no way The Donald was going to let two "street smarts" go head to head b/c it would ruin the "essence" of the show. Therefore Craig v. Tana was a no brainer.

For the record it's so annoying to watch people shout out to "the lord" on television. First with Julie from RW/RR Challenge, now you have Tana and Craig praying. Just edit that shit out.

So we find ourselves AGAIN on the 90th floor looking at one of Trumps apartments thinking that could be me one day. He needs some new stuff, it's getting old.

Tana has some crazy hair this episode on all her close-ups. Speaking of crazy. This season was such a dud that I had forgotten about all those people that they showed in the book. I was like oh yeah, all these people brought nuttin.'

Which brings me to my theory from last season. The show should not bring back the season duds or any cast members for that matter. They should be assigned three people from the Trump organization. Therefore the contestants get to really work with real people who are vested b/c this is their job. Additionally these people know what it is like to work for Trump and could do an honest assessment of how the contestants are doing. Erica said it best (I think it was her) that they have no real incentive to do well, and often times they don't and they fuck around. Given all this Tana still shouldn't complain to Carolyn it's unprofessional. She is trying to get a job, they are not friends!

It's annoying that the final task is always running an event. Also it's such bullshit. As someone who has run corporate events none of this is being done in 24 hours it takes like three months just for companies to commit for pete's sake. So it's clear that they really have only one or two responsibilities for the event. I would love to see their assignment books one of these days.

I always think one task seems better than the other and this time it is the Chelsea Piers task. However I don't think this means Tana wins I just think it's the better task. By the way if I was Tana and my team was parking I would just say, put it in a fucking lot. Clearly they have parking garages in NY, pay the $$. Stop fucking around how stupid are you.

I think Kendra has an edge on winning this thing, solely b/c I think Trump (who may not admit this) is going to be concerned about her being uprooted from Iowa away from her family and whether or not she'll be really committed.
